The Harlem Superstars comedy basketball team is coming to Lincoln Academy tonight Wed., March 24 at 6:30 p.m.

The Coastal Hoops girls’ basketball team picked up a pair of wins in the Kennebec Valley YMCA tournament on March 6-7.

Wiscasset defeated Miles Memorial 69-53, and Stonescape topped Mid-Knight Auto 69-65 in semifinals of the Waldoboro First Baptist Church Men’s Basketball League Monday night to advance to the championship game.

Five Medomak Middle School wrestlers placed in the top four at the Pine Tree East wrestling championships, held at Belfast High School on Saturday to qualify for the Pine Tree State championships to be held at Brewer High School on March 27.

Tamya Carter, of Waldoboro, and Will Groce, of Damariscotta, are warming up and getting in shape for the 2010 National Special Olympic Summer games, to be held in Lincoln, Neb. in late July. Both athletes compete with Team Mobius, and will represent Team Maine at the Summer Games.

Lincoln future freshmen won the annual Lincoln Academy Boys’ Invitational Basketball Tournament, held Feb. 23-24.

Medomak Valley athletic director Matt Lash announced last week that Richard Vannah has been hired as the new softball coach.

CLC Y 5th and 6th grade girls’ travel team, and Medomak 6th grade boys won the CLC YMCA 5th and 6th grade Cabin Fever Basketball Tournament, on Feb. 26 and 27 in Damariscotta.

Georges Valley boys beat Lincoln 8th grade travel team 33-30 to win the Medomak Midcoast Madness 7th & 8th grade basketball tournament on March 19-21.

Wiscasset 6th grade travel team defeated Medomak 6th 39-29 to win the Wiscasset Parks & Recreation 5th and 6th grade boys’ Invitational Basketball Tournament on March 7.

Maranacook topped Boothbay 8th 27-25 to win the 2010 Boys’ Basketball Classic, held at the Boothbay YMCA on March 12-14.

Wiscasset dug themselves into a big hole early and were unable to dig out in their 53-43 loss to Hall-Dale Monday night in the West Class C quarterfinals at the Augusta Civic Center.

Lincoln Academy girls rallied from behind to beat Rockland Tuesday night in Rockland. The Eagles took a 14-13 lead at the quarter, before getting into foul trouble in the 2nd period. Lincoln was charged with 25 fouls and Rockland 26 in the sloppy game.

Medomak Valley boys’ basketball team nipped Lincoln Academy 60-56 in overtime on Feb. 4 in the two teams’ KVAC season finale in Newcastle. With the win, the Panthers finish the season with a 14-4 record. Lincoln ends their season with an 11-7 record.
