Are you a budding wine enthusiast interested in learning more and expanding your wine IQ? What’s the difference between Champagne, Prosecco and Cava? Are there any really good boxed wines? What exactly does it mean when a wine is described as “mineral-driven” or “buttery”? If your interest is piqued then join us on Thursday, June 7th from 5-7pm for a fun and informative wine tasting! At the end of the class we’ll raffle off a bottle of wine for one lucky attendee Maia Gosselin, the owner of Sip Wine Education will take you on a tour of delicious bubblies, whites, roses and reds, discussing varietals, regions, history and today’s trends. Trust us, you don’t want to miss this terrific event!
*CLASS FEE (includes entry for wine raffle): $25/co-op members $35/non-members
*Please Note: Attendance is limited & advanced purchase required. Complimentary appetizers will be provided. Must be 21+ to attend.
More about Maia: Maia Gosselin has more than 15 years’ experience in the beverage alcohol industry as an editor, writer, bartender, educator and consultant. She is the owner of Sip Wine Education, a business providing in-home, on-premise, bridal shower, senior living and corporate wine education and is a regular guest on News Center Maine’s “207”. In her profession, she finds that many people would like to learn more about wine but are intimidated by it. A skilled public speaker, she has an ease of approach to teaching, making her seminars and tastings informative yet enjoyable and unpretentious. Her aim is to demystify the world of wine by making it fun and accessible, one Sip at a time

“Despite his success and sense of history, Mr. Paul remains an artist with his eye on the future and an interest in discovering the transformative potential in his music, says the New York Times. Some artists document their lives through their music. Others chronicle their times. It’s a rare artist who can do both, telling their own story through songs that also encapsulate the essence of people and places who have helped define their era overall. The Opera House looks forward to welcoming back this former local resident and beloved musician this summer. Advance Box Office Tickets $20, Regular Tickets $25.

One day only! Mook Sea Farm will be hosting an Open House on Saturday, June 16 from 9am – 1 pm with hourly tours at 9, 10, 11, and 12. As a busy working oyster hatchery and farm, we are not usually able to offer tours for the public, so we are excited to welcome anyone and everyone this morning as part of the three-day Damariscotta Oyster Celebration (https://www.damariscottaoyster.com/)!
Come sample our Moondancer oysters on the dock, chat with our crew about how we grow oyster seed and market oysters, and join one of the hourly tours. You will learn about the life cycle of oysters and how each life stage is managed and reared within a modern, state-of-the-art, commercial oyster hatchery. The tour will also include a walk-through of Mook’s brand new, one-of-a-kind, land-based facility for microalgae production, market oyster improvement, and packing and shipping.
