“Egghead Evenings” continue into the fall at the Lincoln County Democratic Committee Campaign Office, 521 Main St., Damariscotta. These open discussion groups focus on policy-related or historical topics featuring experts who live in or frequent Midcoast Maine.
Economic expert and Southport resident Marcus Hutchins will lead a discussion about Maine’s current and future economy on Monday, September 10, from 7-8:30 p.m.
Known locally as the Coastal Economist for his columns exploring economic issues, Hutchins began his career as an economist at Merrill Lynch in New York City before establishing a hedge fund. Now retired, he is a full-time volunteer, serving on several boards including the Maine Center for Economic Policy and the Lincoln Theater.

This guided walk will show you a side of Boothbay Harbor’s waterfront you’ve never seen! You’ll learn the ins and outs of lobstering, see the sites of shipbuilding, hear of early fisheries, lighthouses, rum running and even pirates. What industries used to line the shore? Were there sea serpents? Was there any Naval activity in the area?
Tour the shore with Maine’s largest walking tour company to hear all of the above and more, including shanties, as you walk in the footsteps of early Boothbay Harbor mariners! Appropriate for all ages and easy walking, it’s something the whole family will enjoy.
By reservation only; $20 for adults, $10 for children under 12, free for children under 5. http://www.redcloaktours.com or 207-380-3806
