Terri Blen Parker is an emerging author whose native state of Maine is a familiar topic and local history is her passion. Family roots connect her to Blinn Hill in Dresden to Swan Island in the Kennebec River, and on to historic Monhegan Island off Port Clyde. “Swango in the Kennebec – Journey to Sowangen, Island of Eagles” invite readers to enter the world of a tiny isolated island where the village of Perkins was incorporated and thriving in the mid-1800’s, and abandoned in 1936 when ferry service was discontinued. On the Benedict Arnold Trail, the island boasts of the Dr. Sylvester Gardiner’s Dumaresque house and other historic and outstanding Kennebec Proprietor’s properties. The rich Native Abenaki island history has been largely ignored for 400 years. Author’s Goal: to author historic novels piquing the public interest. Her memoir (soon to be published) includes years spent 1950-1960 with island caretakers, grandparents Parker and Marion Blen on Swan Island, also known as the
Steve Powell Wildlife Management Island in the Kennebec River, Maine.
Terri will be presenting a slide show of island photos and reading from Book One of her Swan Island trilogy. Signed and discounted copies of her book will be available for sale after the presentation.

East Forty Farm is a working farm, and as you dine you will hear the cow’s bells as they graze in the field; contented grunts from the pigs in their forest pasture; and assorted clucks and quacks. The early evening is filled with bird song, and the Medomak River is illuminated by the setting sun in the distance. Each supper has a theme and the summer series is prepared by guest chefs and is limited to 20 guests.
“A tavola non si invecchia mai”… At the table, you never grow old.
Chef Melody Wolfertz, owner of In Good Company in Rockland, transports you to the island of Sicily inspired by her visit in June. Full menu will be announced closer to the supper.
