Ocean on Tap is an informal, ocean-centric speaker series organized by researchers from the Bigelow Laboratory for Ocean Sciences and hosted by Footbridge Brewery in Boothbay Harbor. Our goal is to bring the community together over the fascinating world of the ocean. At these events, speakers share about their corner of expertise in the ocean, and attendees are encouraged to ask questions. Follow us on Instagram @oceanontap for more information about us. This month’s speaker is Dr. Reyn Yoshioka who will be sharing all about the tiniest yet creepiest critters of the sea. Please join us at Footbridge Brewery for a fun conversation after their Happy Hour ends at 6pm.

With a career spanning over two decades, Hanneke Cassel has helped redefine what it means to be a modern fiddler. A driving force in the ever-changing landscape of acoustic music, Hanneke blends originality and innovation with the spirit of Scottish traditional fiddle. Fusing musical roots from the Isle of Skye and Cape Breton Island with Americana stylings, Hanneke’s playing has been described by the Boston Globe as “exuberant and rhythmic, somehow wild and innocent, delivered with captivating melodic clarity and an irresistible playfulness.” Beyond the strings of her fiddle, it is Hanneke’s hugely generous presence and passion that round out her magnetism as a performer on the world stage of fiddle music. Appearing with Jenna
Moynihan and Keith Murphy. Advance discount tickets $20, available only from the box office at 207-633-5159 (open Wed – Fri from 10-2). Regular tickets $25 online at boothbayoperahouse.com, and on the day of show if available.
