A master lyricist and satirical storyteller, John Hiatt delivers songs filled with tales of redemption, relationships and surrendering on his own terms. Hiatt’s finest album is 1987’s Bring the Family; other catalog highlights include the pop and rock of 1983’s Riding with the King, the rough-hewn blues-rock of 2008’s Same Old Man, and 2021’s Leftover Feelings. His lyrics and melodies have graced more than 20 studio albums, have been recorded by Bob Dylan, Emmylou Harris, B.B. King, Willie Nelson, Bonnie Raitt and scores of others, and have earned him a place in the Nashville Songwriters Hall of Fame, a BMI Troubadour award, and a lifetime achievement in songwriting designation from the Americana Music Association. He’s been making music alongside some Opera House favorites including Rodney Crowell and Jerry Douglas, among others. Tonight we welcome this legend to the stage, solo. This special night is made possible thanks to support from the Muir Family and Pine State Trading. In-person sales for regular tickets, $50, begin February 15. Phone sales at (207) 633-5159 begin March 5. Online tickets available March 15. The Box Office is open Wed – Fri from 10-2.

Acoustic instrumental music has never been so beautifully represented as by Alison Brown. As one of the most multi-faceted minds on today’s roots music scene, every one of Alison’s endeavors is marked by innovation, intelligence, and grace. As a banjo player, she throws out the textbook when it comes playing the banjo and the result is a sound that blends the rugged drive of bluegrass with the harmonic sensibilities of jazz, earning vast acclaim and a GRAMMY award in the process. She’s toured with Alison Krauss and Union Station, and Michelle Shocked, played the Kennedy Center and Telluride Bluegrass
Festival, New Orleans Jazz Festival and the Newport Folk Festival among others. Tonight she brings her banjo and her quartet to the Opera House and we are confident that audiences may never think about the banjo the same way again. Advance discounted tickets, $35, available beginning February 14 from the box office at 207-633-5159.
Regular tickets $40, available online only from this Opera House website and on the day of the show at the door.

Join us for the third annual Paddle for a Purpose charity event! Born from the brains of fellow paddlers, the mission of Paddle for a Purpose is simple: get people out on the water with intention.
This year the paddle will launch from Glidden Point Oyster Farm and folks will paddle upriver, with the incoming tide, to the Damariscotta Town Landing. Then, the party will take place at Shuck Station on Main Street in Damariscotta! The party will include a live auction, local brews, food for purchase from Shuck Station, and live music from Primo Cubano. Lucy’s Granola is donating the pre-paddle snacks and coffee will be provided. Visit http://www.heartyroots.org/paddle-for-a-purpose to

Pete Seeger, the father of the folk revival of the 1950s and 1960s, wrote a number of songs that have become classics. Allan Winkler, an American historian, wrote a biography of Pete and in the course of that project, visited regularly with him, and played music with him each time. Today’s program describes these visits, and highlights Seeger’s involvement in every major social movement of the 20th century: the labor movement; the civil rights struggle; the Vietnam War protest; and the environmental movement. This session will describe Pete’s contributions to American life. And with Winkler’s guitar accompaniment, it will include a dozen of his best-loved songs. This community presentation is free, but donations to help the Opera House are welcome at the door. Doors for seating open at 3:30 pm. No tickets required. Refreshments available at the bar (cash only). Please do not bring food or drinks to any Opera House event.

This multi-national Celtic juggernaut grows stronger with each live performance, and after two decades and over 2000 shows, it is a true force to be reckoned with. The band attributes their continued success to their fanatic audience, and it’s a well-diversified crowd for sure. The country-music folks adore the storytelling, the bluegrass-heads love the instrumentals, Celtic fans love their devotion to tradition, and the rockers simply relish the passion they play their instruments with. Each band member, in their own way, expresses a deep gratitude for their fans, but Patrick Murphy said it best: “The fans are the ones that have given us this life. We’re here for them.” Buy your tickets early, this show often sells out! Advance discount tickets $35, available only from the box office at 207-633-5159 (open Wed – Fri from 10-2). Regular tickets $40 online at boothbayoperahouse.com, and on the day of show if available.
