Post offices across Maine will be open for business on Monday, Dec. 31. However, some may have earlier closings or schedules for collection of blue boxes on the street. Check with any local office for details.

Charles A. Bowden June 27, 1952 - Dec. 24, 2018

Charles A. Bowden, 66, died unexpectedly Dec. 24 at his daughter’s home. He was born in Augusta on June 27, 1952, a son of the late George W. and Dora A. (Tibbetts) Bowden.

Claudia Tellshow, 75, of Waldoboro, passed away on Dec. 2.

Diane M. (Kaler) Crudell

Diane M. (Kaler) Crudell, 51, passed away peacefully with her loving family by her side on Dec. 28 at the Sussman House in Rockport.

GSB Students Investigate

Last year, I had the opportunity to visit Kelly Girard’s eighth-grade language arts classes at Great Salt Bay Community School in Damariscotta during the students’ investigative journalism unit. The presentations were fun (at least for me), The Lincoln County News later published some of the students’ work, and the whole experience was truly one of the highlights of my year.
