Pemaquid Art Gallery Call for New Members
The Pemaquid Group of Artists announces a call for artists to join the gallery for the 2018 season. This will be the 90th year the popular gallery has been open, and the field of eligible artists has expanded to include all of Lincoln County. Open from Memorial Day to Columbus Day, Lighthouse Park, where the gallery is located, receives thousands of visitors each year and is a compelling venue for talented local artists.
Registration is Open for Mudathlon Trail Race
Join Midcoast Conservancy and Teens To Trails for the Midcoast Mudathlon on Sunday, April 15 at Hidden Valley Nature Center, 131 Egypt Road, Jefferson. This fun-first event will include trail running and air rifle target shooting; all participants will receive a safety training on the rifles before they race. Members of Trail Monster Running will be on hand to participate and support new trail-running enthusiasts.

Lana H. Simmons, 76, of Friendship, passed away on the morning of March 19 at Cove’s Edge Nursing Home in Damariscotta, surrounded by her family. Born in Rockland on March 3, 1942, she was the daughter of Bernard and Geraldine (Burns) Brow.

Arthur L. Bailey, 67, of New Harbor, passed away on the morning of March 12 at Mid Coast Hospital in Brunswick, surrounded by his loving family. Born in Damariscotta on Nov. 30, 1950, he was the youngest son of Roderick and Lydia (Brackett) Bailey.
Help Yourself Shelf Updates
St. Philip’s Episcopal Church’s Help Yourself Shelf food pantry, located at 12 Hodge St. in Wiscasset, is announcing that the pantry will not be held on its usual Thursday day and time during the last week of March, but on Tuesday, March 27 instead. The pantry time will be the same, with sign-in prior to 5 p.m. and selection time beginning at 5 p.m.
Journalism Scholarships Available for Maine Students
The Guy P. Gannett Journalism Scholarship Fund is seeking applications from Maine students. The Gannett Scholarship provides renewable support for students majoring in journalism or a field reasonably related, including print, broadcast, or electronic media. The fund helps pay tuition to attend an undergraduate, graduate, trade, or technical school.
Fundraisers for Philip Peabody after Storm-Related Accident
Three weeks ago, after a stormy night, Philip Peabody, of Jefferson, was critically injured when he rolled his truck several times. He managed to climb out of his truck and up an embankment to get to the road, where he was found by a passerby. That person called the accident in and, in doing so, saved Peabody’s life. Peabody has a long road ahead of him, though, to overcome the brain trauma this accident caused.

Three Arrested for Alleged Crack Sales in Knox, Lincoln Counties
A Warren man and two New York women were arrested in Warren on Thursday, March 15 for allegedly trafficking crack cocaine in Knox and Lincoln counties.
