A legislative watchdog panel voted Friday, March 9 to investigate Maine’s child welfare system and, separately, the handling of cases involving two girls who were killed, allegedly by family members, since December.
St. Pat’s Dinner in Wiscasset
The First Congregational Church of Wiscasset, at 28 High St. in Wiscasset, will hold a St. Patrick’s dinner on Saturday, March 17 from 5:30-7 p.m., featuring traditional boiled corned beef and cabbage, shepherd’s pie, vegetarian shepherd’s pie, Irish soda bread, and dessert.
Animal Camp Registration Now Open
Registration is open for the 2018 summer season of Coastal Humane Society and Lincoln County Animal Shelter’s Animal Camp. Youngsters in grades one and two, three and four, and five and six will learn about animal sheltering, pet care, veterinary medicine, and animal behavior, as well as wildlife, farm animals, and even exotic animals.

Please, No More Delays

Great Salt Bay Barn Dance is March 17
People are invited to participate in some good old-fashioned fun at the Great Salt Bay Barn Dance on Saturday, March 17 from 6:30-8 p.m. in the Great Salt Bay Community School gym. Barn-dancing/contra-dancing is a wonderful social activity for all ages and is a tradition that has been part of Maine culture since colonial times. It’s also a fun way to get some exercise.
Easter Egg Hunt at CLC YMCA Child Care
The CLC YMCA’s Child Care is welcoming spring and the Easter season with a pancake breakfast and egg hunt on Saturday, March 24 at 9 a.m. Infants and kids up to age 10 will have an opportunity to visit with the Easter Bunny and enjoy an Easter egg hunt, while parents can take photos and partake in the festivities. The CLC YMCA Child Care Center is located at 8 Sand Hill Road in Nobleboro.

‘9 to 5: The Musical’ Coming to Lincoln Theater
Lincoln County Community Theater, the resident theater company of Damariscotta’s Lincoln Theater, is knee-deep in preparation for this year’s winter musical. This time, the company will present Dolly Parton’s “9 to 5: The Musical,” which will open on Friday, April 6 at 7:30 p.m. for a four-performance weekend.
