The pet pantry is open from 9-11 a.m. on the first Tuesday of each month. The next time it will be open is on Tuesday, March 6. Its mission is to assist people who, due to their economic circumstances, may be having trouble buying food for their cat or dog.

On Friday, March 2 at 6:30 p.m., the Charles Lilly Post 149 American Legion hall in Waldoboro will host benefit bingo for the Giles family, of Boothbay. The Giles family, a family of eight, including three children with special needs, lost their home to fire Jan. 30.
The St. Denis Knights of Columbus 1423 will host their famous Irish holiday dinner Saturday, March 17 at the St. Denis Hall on Route 126 in North Whitefield. Serving begins at 5 p.m.
The Wiscasset General Store, on West Alna Road, will soon become the Cubbyhole Sports Pub. The sports pub will have a new menu, but will continue to serve the daily specials the store has offered since 2012.
Elena A. (Collamore) McIntyre, 69, of Rockland, passed away on Jan. 3 at home with her family by her side, under the care of her daughter and medical staff.
Peter Francis Timoney, 61, of Chamberlain, died Feb. 18 at his home.
Elizabeth M. Duchesneau, 88, of Newcastle, died on Feb. 17 at Mid Coast Hospital in Brunswick.
Albert F. Carlson, of Jefferson, died peacefully at home surrounded by loved ones on Feb. 18, after a courageous battle with cancer. Al, also known by most of the free world as “Farf” (short for Fathers-Father in Swedish), was born March 16, 1946 – the son of two Swedish immigrants.
Healthy Kids has formed a relationship with the First Congregational Church of Wiscasset to offer a Tuesday morning playgroup in their Fellowship Hall from 10 a.m. to noon. There will be games, crafts and a free snack for all children ages five and under and their caregivers.
The free live music series continues on Friday evenings at Oxbow’s Farmhouse Brewery, with Steve Jones performing on Friday, Feb. 23 from 6 to 9 p.m.
Kenneth A. Smith, 5-month-old son of Derek W. Smith and Katie M. Merrill, of Whitefield, died unexpectedly Feb. 14 at his home. He was born in Augusta on Sept. 19, 2017.
