Town of Somerville Select Board Meeting & Public Hearing
The Town of Somerville will consider General Assistance Appendices for adoption at their next Select Board meeting on Wednesday, February 7, at 6 pm in the Somerville Town Office, 72 Sand Hill Rd, Somerville. Appendices are available at the town office for review, and public comment is welcome at the meeting.
Midcoast Conservancy Open House is Jan. 25
Midcoast Conservancy will hold an open house on Thursday, Jan. 25 from 4:30-7 p.m. to celebrate its move to 290 Atlantic Highway in Edgecomb. After an exhaustive search that involved evaluating almost 40 different properties in the Midcoast region, Midcoast Conservancy purchased its new home in Edgecomb after two years of leasing a building in Wiscasset.
Volunteers Needed to Reach Out to Isolated Seniors
This has been a difficult winter, especially for seniors in the community who are living alone. Members of the community are encouraged to reach out to the elderly neighbors they know and to meet new neighbors by volunteering. The Catholic Charities SEARCH Program of Greater Bath and Lincoln County is looking for volunteers to assist seniors in Wiscasset, Damariscotta, Nobleboro, Pemaquid peninsula towns (Bristol, South Bristol, Bremen), and the Boothbay region.

Japanese Gardens Program in Wiscasset

Learn the latest information about the pest called the browntail moth at a presentation by Maine Forest Service District Forester Morten Moesswilde on Wednesday, Jan. 24 at 6 p.m. in the Wiscasset Municipal Building, 51 Bath Road, Wiscasset. Moesswilde will discuss identification and management of the browntail moth, which has infiltrated many Midcoast Maine communities, including Wiscasset.
Wouldn’t Be the Same Without LCN
My wife, Heidi, and I had no business being out last Wednesday night and I am not talking about the weather. True, it had stormed most of the day, but by the time we were ready to drive to Damariscotta, the roads were mostly clear. A few weeks before I had heard about an open house at The Lincoln County News. It was scheduled for that evening as part of a Business After Hours event for the Damariscotta Region Chamber of Commerce. Having no real connection with either, I wasn’t sure why, but I knew I wanted to attend.

Kilton Todd Osier passed on the 19th of January, 2018. He was born on the 13th of April, 1936, to Carroll P. Osier and Evelyn L. (Poore) Osier. Evelyn subsequently passed from complications of the birth on the 2nd of May, 1936.
