Edgar Walter Thompson, 85, passed away April 23 at Togus Springs in Augusta with his children at his side.
The Maine Senate has confirmed longtime District Attorney Geoff Rushlau as a District Court judge, and Gov. Paul R. LePage has appointed Deputy District Attorney Jonathan Liberman to succeed Rushlau as DA.
The Damariscotta Pumpkinfest & Regatta invites Maine artists to submit a design for this year’s official festival T-shirt. The deadline to submit a design entry is Monday, June 19. A $500 prize will be awarded to the artist whose design is selected.
Community Housing Improvement Project Inc. will host a yard sale on Saturday, May 13 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. on the lawn of the St. Andrew’s Parish House, located at 16 Glidden St., Newcastle. Under the leadership of Ruth Piper, this sale has been organized after Louis Doe Home Center generously donated a large portion of its hardware stock to clear out space within the building.
Monica L. Simmons Whitfield Yeakel Thompson, 58, of Damariscotta, passed away on the morning of April 25, after a long and courageous battle with cancer.
Spring turkey season starts on Monday, May 1 throughout Maine, but youth hunters had own day Saturday, April 29. Maine Department of Inland Fisheries and Wildlife biologists believe that hunters are in for a successful season.
FARMS (Focus on Agriculture in Rural Maine Schools) was the beneficiary of Lincoln County SPARK for 2017. The SPARK group held a series of events beginning with the Summer 5K Run/Walk and River Cruise and a series of Healthy Holiday runs and walks during the winter, resulting in the first donation of $845.
Ellsworth (Ellie) Ernest Damon, 95, of Whitefield, passed away peacefully on April 28 at Togus Hospice. He was surrounded by loved ones.
Ruth M. (McLoon) House, 98, of Damariscotta, passed away on the afternoon of April 27 at the Woodlands in Rockland, with her family by her side.
One can gain the skills necessary to get a good job by attending two free job-seeker workshops being offered through a partnership of Central Lincoln County Adult Education and Goodwill Workforce Solutions. The workshops will be held at the CLC Adult Education office, at 767 Main St. in Damariscotta from 9 a.m. to noon.
Spring always comes first to the river valleys. Fittingly, Medomak Valley Land Trust and the Washington Lakes Watershed Association are hosting a public paddle on Saturday, May 6 on a section of the upper Medomak River to observe and welcome early spring plants and wildlife.
