New Art at Damariscotta River Grill

Damariscotta River Grill, located at 155 Main St. in downtown Damariscotta, is now hosting artists Valerie Jeanne Borgal, Marc Poirier, and Sarah Lynn Richards, through Monday, June ­­­­­­­­­­­­12. Each painter brings a very distinct style, medium, and subject matter to the show. All work on exhibit is for sale.

Dan Baty Service Announcement

A graveside committal service for Dan Baty, who passed away on the morning of Feb. 27, will be held at 11 a.m., Sat., May 6 at the Maple Grove Cemetery in Round Pond.

Maxwell Makes Volunteer Roll of Honor

Earlier this year, the Waldoborough Historical Society nominated Vice President Bill Maxwell for inclusion on the 2017 Maine Volunteer Roll of Honor. The honor roll is a part of the Governor’s Awards for Service and Volunteerism program. Notification of Maxwell’s acceptance was received this month, and he was presented a certificate, two tickets to a Portland Sea Dogs baseball game, and a pin by President Jean Lawrence at the Waldoboro Volunteers Recognition event on Saturday, April 22.

JVS PTA to Hold Ninth Jefferson Jubilee

The Jefferson Village School PTA will host its ninth annual Jefferson Jubilee at Jefferson Village School, at 48 Washington Road in Jefferson, from 6-8:30 p.m., Friday, May 5. Dinner admission will be $5 for adults and $3 for children 10 and under. The dinner will consist of spaghetti, salad, a roll, beverages, and dessert.

RSU 40 Pre-K Registration

A child who will be four on or before Oct. 15 is eligible to attend Pre-K at one of the RSU 40 schools, which includes Miller School in Waldoboro. One should contact the school the child will be attending to register for Pre-K. Miller School can be reached at 832-2103.

View from Over the Hill Quiet week

It’s been a quiet week here in the valley. The big rain did make the river roar through. It has also caused problems with my driveway. Our driveway is very long and half of it is on a steep hill, so when there is a lot of water coming down the hill, it naturally ends up running down the wheel ruts.

The State Workforce Board’s Older Worker Committee has opened nominations for the Silver Collar Employer Award, honoring 2017’s best employers for workers over the age of 50 in Maine.

Hanna-Whitney Engagement

The parents of Brynne Hanna are pleased to announce her engagement to Andrew Whitney. Hanna is a 2004 graduate of Lincoln Academy in Newcastle and is employed by Bangor Savings. Whitney is a 2003 graduate of Rockland High School and a 2011 graduate of the University of Maine at Augusta. He is employed by FMC Corp.
