Waldoboro Food Pantry Thanksgiving
On Nov. 7, the Waldoboro Food Pantry served 72 households with food assistance. Those households received the usual selection of food items, produce, and bakery goods purchased by the pantry from Good Shepherd Food Bank, Hannaford Supermarket in Waldoboro, and the Common Market in Union. Those 72 households went from the pantry with groceries and a sense of comfort.
Wiscasset Tree Lighting
The annual Wiscasset Christmas tree lighting will be held Saturday, Dec. 2 at 4:30 p.m. on the town common. There will be holiday music performed by students in grades five through 12, with a sing-along of familiar songs.
Thanksgiving Dinner for Those Alone
For those alone on Thanksgiving Day, a free dinner will be available at the Waldoboro American Legion, located at 181 Jefferson St. in Waldoboro, at 1 p.m., Thursday, Nov. 23. Unlike some of the community dinners, this one is actually on Thanksgiving Day. It is intended for those who find themselves alone on that day. There are those who, for whatever reason, have no relatives, children, or neighbors to visit that day. This dinner is for them!
Record Number of LA Musicians Qualifies for Honors Fest
This year, more than 80 Lincoln Academy student musicians auditioned for the District 3 Honors Music Festival, and of those, a record 51 qualified to participate, several in both band and choir.
‘Deck The Homes’ Holiday Decorating Contest
A holiday decorating contest to benefit Caring For Kids, an organization dedicated to helping kids of Bristol and South Bristol, will be held by Bristol Parks & Recreation. The first annual contest, “Deck the Homes,” invites Bristol residents to decorate the exterior of their homes with lights, wreaths, scenery, and other decorative ornaments.
Fruit Trees Planted in Bristol Parks
The Bristol Parks and Recreation Department recently received a $2,000 grant through the Stephen and Tabitha King Foundation to plant fruit trees in Bristol parks. The purpose of the project is to offer free, healthy fruit to park visitors.
Pugh Lauded For Marine Center Work with Kids
The University of Maine’s Darling Marine Center recognized Annelissa “Lili” Pugh for her commitment to marine science education as she leaves the position of the center’s K-12 education coordinator in late November.
Coats for Seniors
People are encouraged to bring winter coats to Spectrum Generations Coastal Community Center, 521 Main St., Damariscotta. These donations will help keep seniors warm this winter. All the donations will go to Goodwill. Certificates/coupons of donation can be collected for record or, if in need, one can get a coupon and pick up a coat.

DMS Middle-Schoolers go to Washington, D.C.
The Damariscotta Montessori School middle-school students — seventh- and eighth-graders – recently had the chance to experience the roots of American civics and history firsthand. As part of their curriculum, the students embark on a one-week excursion to study American history on-site each year.
Assembly of God Thanksgiving Meal
For many years, Lincoln County Assembly of God has hosted a free community Thanksgiving meal. This year, this great meal will be provided from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Thanksgiving Day, Thursday, Nov. 23.
