A holiday decorating contest to benefit Caring For Kids, an organization dedicated to helping kids of Bristol and South Bristol, will be held by Bristol Parks & Recreation. The first annual contest, “Deck the Homes,” invites Bristol residents to decorate the exterior of their homes with lights, wreaths, scenery, and other decorative ornaments.
Fruit Trees Planted in Bristol Parks
The Bristol Parks and Recreation Department recently received a $2,000 grant through the Stephen and Tabitha King Foundation to plant fruit trees in Bristol parks. The purpose of the project is to offer free, healthy fruit to park visitors.

Coats for Seniors
People are encouraged to bring winter coats to Spectrum Generations Coastal Community Center, 521 Main St., Damariscotta. These donations will help keep seniors warm this winter. All the donations will go to Goodwill. Certificates/coupons of donation can be collected for record or, if in need, one can get a coupon and pick up a coat.

DMS Middle-Schoolers go to Washington, D.C.
The Damariscotta Montessori School middle-school students — seventh- and eighth-graders – recently had the chance to experience the roots of American civics and history firsthand. As part of their curriculum, the students embark on a one-week excursion to study American history on-site each year.

U.S. Marine Corps 242nd Birthday Celebrated
The Wells-Hussey American Legion post in Damariscotta was once again the host of the annual U.S. Marine Corps birthday Friday, Nov. 10. Forty-two guests outnumbered the 10 Marines for a potluck dinner and the annual cake.

This notice is for all motorists that park on any street/road or in the municipal parking lot after hours in Damariscotta. The winter season is upon us. In accordance with the Town of Damariscotta Traffic & Parking Ordinance, Article 1.17 Winter Parking, parking is prohibited on any street, road, or municipal parking lot from Nov. 15 to April 15, 2018 from 9 p.m. to 7 a.m.

Bag Sale at Bristol Area Library
On Wednesday, Nov. 15 from noon-4 p.m., the Bristol Area Library will have a bag sale. For four hours only, one can fill a bag with books for $5. People should feel free to bring their own bag.
