Maine Emergency Management Agency staff and partner agencies, including the Lincoln County Emergency Management Agency, are coordinating preparedness efforts in advance of a severe snowstorm expected to bring as much as a foot and a half of wet, heavy snow to some areas of the state.

Central Maine Power Co., a subsidiary of Avangrid Inc., a diversified energy and utility company, has been monitoring weather forecasts and is prepared for a winter storm forecast to bring heavy snow and gusty winds to Maine on Wednesday, March 7 and Thursday, March 8.
Caps for Critters Days to Help Animal Shelter
The Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office animal control division invites area schools to participate in the first annual Caps for Critters Days, with all proceeds and donations going to benefit the Lincoln County Animal Shelter.
Lincoln County Yard Sale Scheduled for May 5
After a bitterly long and cold winter, it is time to start spring cleaning. What better way to clean the house, garage, basement, or attic than to convert some of that clutter into cash? To kick off the yard sale season right and bring the community together, Lincoln County Publishing Co. is teaming up with the Central Lincoln County YMCA to host the Lincoln County Yard Sale, a huge indoor yard sale, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturday, May 5. This event will take place in the CLC YMCA gym and admission is free.
Blood Drive at Wiscasset Community Center is March 16
Local realtors are gearing up for their third annual blood drive this year on behalf of the Lincoln County Council of the Mountains to Shore Board of Realtors, which will be held at the Wiscasset Community Center, at 242 Gardiner Road in Wiscasset, on Friday, March 16 from noon-5 p.m.
Construction at DRA’s Round Top Farm to Kick Off Soon
The historic farmhouse at DRA’s Round Top Farm in Damariscotta will be undergoing renovations this year, with work scheduled to begin in mid-March. Damariscotta River Association, the land trust and conservation organization that owns the property, plans to relocate its administrative headquarters to the farmhouse when work is complete this fall.
Girl Scout Troop No. 144 Cookie Booth News
Nobleboro Girl Scout Troop No. 144 had its most successful cookie booth ever this past Saturday, March 3. The remaining booths will be at 441 Main St. in Damariscotta, across from Dunkin’ Donuts, on Saturday, March 10 from 9 a.m. to noon; on Saturday, March 24 from 9 a.m. to noon; and Saturday, March 31 from 9 a.m. to noon.
Now is Time to Eliminate Browntail Caterpillars
Feb. 26 to March 2 was National Invasive Species Awareness Week, entomologists from the Maine Department of Agriculture, Conservation and Forestry remind people that now is the time to remove browntail caterpillars from trees that are accessible. Browntail caterpillars cause a poison ivy-like rash and they are impacting a broad swath of Maine. Contact with this caterpillar’s hairs can cause severe reactions for some individuals.
Boat Safety Course in Boothbay Harbor
The United States Power Squadron, aka America’s Boating Club, will teach a one-day recreational boating safety course at the Boothbay Region YMCA, at 261 Townsend Ave. in Boothbay Harbor, on Saturday, May 5. This is an 8-hour course that covers Maine boating laws, boat handling, and boat safety equipment. It is a nationally certified course with issuance of an operator’s license upon passing the course exam.
Snow Just in Time for DRA’s Winter Fest
Though the weather was unseasonably warm and the ground bare two days earlier, a cold front and a few inches of snow arrived in time to provide just the right conditions for Winter Fest on Feb. 18.
