The 56th edition of the Windjammer Days festival in Boothbay Harbor, which will run from Sunday, June 24 to Saturday, June 30, will feature a new look at what previously was called the Parade of Sail. This year, on Wednesday, June 27 from 1-3 p.m., drones will stream live video to a jumbo LED screen in Whale Park, as an announcer narrates the Gathering of the Fleet event. For those who will want to see the gathering from the water, there will be plenty of boat tours available.
Governor Directs Flags to Half Staff in Memory Of Deputy Sheriff Cole
As a sign of respect for the service and sacrifice of Somerset County Deputy Sheriff Cpl. Eugene Cole, who was killed in the line of duty Wednesday, April 25, Gov. Paul R. LePage has directed that all United States flags and State of Maine flags shall be flown at half staff immediately for at least three days, as well as on the day of Cole’s interment.

Drug Take Back Day is April 28
On Saturday, April 28 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. the Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office along with the police departments of Boothbay Harbor, Damariscotta, Waldoboro, and Wiscasset will host the semi-annual Drug Take Back Day.

Conservancy’s Nature Photo Clinic a Big Success
Midcoast Conservancy’s Nature Photo Clinic Snack & Chat, held Wednesday, April 11, was a rousing success, thanks to presenter Maia Zewert, Marketing & Engagement Coordinator for The Lincoln County News. Designed to help people take better pictures with their smartphones, and then post their photographs to social media, the workshop included information on photo-editing apps as well as hands-on photography exercises.

CLC Y’s Healthy Living Center, Raised Track, Offices Now Open
The Central Lincoln County YMCA in Damariscotta opened its new and expanded Healthy Living Center, new raised track, and updated offices this past Monday. Group exercise offerings have expanded to more than 60 classes, as well as to the personal training program. In addition, offices are now open for the CEO, the Healthy Living director, FARMS at the Y, the community and youth outreach coordinator, and the membership and marketing director.
Cemetery Trustees Need Help
Many gravestones in Hillside Cemetery are missing important information, including birth and death dates, full names, and veteran information. The Damariscotta Cemetery Trustees are asking the public for help to fill in the blanks, especially in the Norris Yard portion of Hillside. This is the area bordering Church Street and up the hill along the west side of Hillside Lane.
