St. Philip’s Episcopal Church’s Help Yourself Shelf food pantry, located at 12 Hodge St. in Wiscasset, is announcing that the pantry will not be held on its usual Thursday day and time during the last week of March, but on Tuesday, March 27 instead. The pantry time will be the same, with sign-in prior to 5 p.m. and selection time beginning at 5 p.m.
Fundraisers for Philip Peabody after Storm-Related Accident
Three weeks ago, after a stormy night, Philip Peabody, of Jefferson, was critically injured when he rolled his truck several times. He managed to climb out of his truck and up an embankment to get to the road, where he was found by a passerby. That person called the accident in and, in doing so, saved Peabody’s life. Peabody has a long road ahead of him, though, to overcome the brain trauma this accident caused.

Gov. Paul R. LePage has directed United States and State of Maine flags to half-staff on Friday, March 16 in Caribou in honor of Donald F. Collins, father of U.S. Sen. Susan Collins and a fixture in Maine politics.

The Concussion Awareness Night scheduled for Wednesday, March 14 has been postponed. It will be held Thursday, March 15 from 5-7 p.m. in Lincoln Academy’s Bailey Gymnasium in Newcastle.

Lincoln Academy One-Act Play Wins Regionals
Lincoln Academy is the regional one-act champion for the 11th time in 12 years, despite moving from Class B to Class A this year. On Saturday, March 10, Lincoln Academy’s one-act play “Blood Wedding” earned first place in Class A at the regional one-act festival hosted by Medomak Valley High School in Waldoboro. The play will move on to the state drama festival later this month.
Animal Camp Registration Now Open
Registration is open for the 2018 summer season of Coastal Humane Society and Lincoln County Animal Shelter’s Animal Camp. Youngsters in grades one and two, three and four, and five and six will learn about animal sheltering, pet care, veterinary medicine, and animal behavior, as well as wildlife, farm animals, and even exotic animals.
Celebrating National Reading Month
March is National Reading Month and the Lincoln County Historical Association is taking a look at one of the book lovers who lived at the Pownalborough Court House, one of the three historic sites under the association’s stewardship. From the journal and letters of Sarah “Sallie” Prescott Goodwin emerged a fan of Sir Walter Scott.
UMaine Instructor Teaches for National Park Service
Christopher Rigaud, University of Maine’s diving operations manager, traveled in February to Catalina Island, Calif. as one of four instructors for a two-week dive leadership workshop at the University of Southern California’s Wrigley Institute for Environmental Sciences.
