Members of the community can once again borrow a pass to the Portland Art Museum at Skidompha Library thanks to a donation from the Pemaquid Group of Artists. For the 10th year, the artist group has funded a full year of opportunities to visit the Portland museum at no cost.

Currently on display at LincolnHealth – Miles Campus in Damariscotta are the photographic works of photographer Beau Warring. Warring’s pictures depict the wonderful beauty of Maine, both natural and manmade.

This December, Damariscotta’s Lincoln Theater will present four free family films on Saturday mornings at 10 a.m.

Kefauver Studio & Gallery in Damariscotta is offering an early holiday gift to all visitors of 15 percent of every item in the gallery from Dec. 7-9. “The Little Holiday Show” features exciting new items and artwork by Will Kefauver and 14 guest artists. There is artwork to suit every budget.

Melissa McCarthy stars as Lee Israel, the bestselling celebrity biographer (and cat lover) who made her living in the 1970s and 1980s profiling the likes of Katharine Hepburn, Tallulah Bankhead, Estee Lauder, and journalist Dorothy Kilgallen. When Lee found herself unable to get published because she had fallen out of step with the marketplace, she turned her art form to forging famous writers’ letters, abetted by her loyal friend Jack (played by Richard E. Grant). 

One can smell Michelle McCutcheon’s art exhibit yards before entering the West Gallery at Damariscotta’s River Arts, where McCutcheon’s multimedia installation currently resides.

Pumpkin Vine Family Farm, at 217 Hewett Road in Somerville, will be celebrating the holiday season throughout the month of December with special activities every Sunday from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Harbor Theater is offering a free holiday showing of the 2003 movie “Elf” on Saturday, Dec. 8 at 2 p.m. Free small bags of popcorn will be handed out to anyone under 18.

For those who think it would be fun to see what career artists could come up with for tree ornaments, Gleason Fine Art’s “Art for the Holidays” show will offer just that. The show will begin Thursday, Nov. 29 and run through Wednesday, Jan. 2.

River Company at Skidompha Library, at 184 Main St. in Damariscotta, is delighted to announce the opening of the hilarious Christmas classic “The Best Christmas Pageant Ever,” by Barbara Robinson.

Visitors will be warmly welcomed at the new Tidemark Gallery & Cafe, at 902 Main St. in Waldoboro, on Small Business Saturday, Nov. 24 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. with hot drinks and free samples of tasty offerings, plus gift cards, pottery, and goodies, large and small, for gift-giving.

Elizabeth Flanagan, a senior at Medomak Valley High School in Waldoboro, published her first novel in August after writing the book over the course of 2017 through work with Portland’s The Telling Room.
