NWS Upgrades to ‘Warning’ on Thursday Storm

High Winds, Heavy Rain Bring Power Outages
A blustery mix of high winds and heavy rainfall buffeted Lincoln County beginning Friday afternoon, but it wasn’t until the evening commute at about 5 p.m. that wind velocities increased and damage reports started coming in to the Lincoln County Communications Center. First responders were summoned to trees and wires down throughout the county. By 8:35 p.m. there were 3,727 households with power outages, with every town in Lincoln County affected, according to Central Maine Power (CMP). Almost a third of the outages were in South Bristol where southeasterly winds with sustained velocities of 30-40 mph and gusts up to 60 mph wreaked havoc on the coastal peninsula.
