Saturday, Oct. 6 is Misfit Love Day at Apifera Farm in Bremen, from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m., rain or shine. This will be an open farm event and fundraiser for the nonprofit farm. The farm adopts elder/special needs animals, but also shares them with elder people.
Canvases and Cocktails Paint Night in Damariscotta
The Wells-Hussey American Legion Post No. 42 auxiliary will sponsor a Canvases and Cocktails paint night, a fundraiser, Monday, Sept. 17 from 6-8 p.m. on the top floor of the post at 527 Main St. in Damariscotta.
PWA Paddlers Kayaking Trip is Sept. 8
On Saturday, Sept. 8 at 9:30 a.m., the Pemaquid Watershed Association Paddlers will be kayaking to Indiantown, Powderhorn, and Spectacle islands from Trevett. The paddle duration is approximately 2 1/2 hours and is appropriate for intermediate paddlers. Public restrooms are available; an optional lunch can be had at the Trevett Country Store.
Historical Merry Story to Be Told at Skidompha Genealogy Presentation
The story of the Merry family of Damariscotta — the “m” in Skidompha Library — will be told at a free public presentation by researcher Darby Langdon, of Edgecomb, on Wednesday, Sept. 5, 12:30-2 p.m. in Skidompha Library’s first-floor Porter Meeting Hall. Allow time to find parking.
Spice up Labor Day at Pumpkin Vine Family Farm
One can explore the magic of spices on Sunday, Sept. 2 from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. when the Chef’s Cupboard joins the farmers market at Pumpkin Vine Family Farm in Somerville for a special tasting and learning event. Fall is in the air, the harvest is approaching, and it’s a great time to expand one’s spice repertoire.
Ice Cream Social, Concert this Weekend at WW&F
On Saturday, Aug. 25, one can ride the Wiscasset, Waterville & Farmington Railway to an old-fashioned ice cream social and an evening concert featuring Rough Sawn. Both events will be held at the beautiful fields of the Albee Farm, adjacent to Alna Center station.
Colonial Pemaquid Kids Archaeology Event is Aug. 18
Kids are invited to become history detectives and experience archaeology firsthand at Colonial Pemaquid State Historic Site from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturday, Aug. 18. Each participant will unearth mysterious artifacts, and then determine their use and history while learning the skills of an archaeologist. Each participant will receive a junior archaeologist certificate and photograph of their completed find.

Jefferson Scoop to Hold Fundraiser with Slugger
Jefferson Scoop ice cream shop on Route 32 in Jefferson will hold a fundraiser for the Maine Children’s Cancer Program on Saturday, Aug. 25. The Portland Sea Dogs mascot, Slugger, will be in attendance from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.
Summer Explorations at Beachcombers’ Rest Nature Center
The end of summer is approaching, but there will be two more beach explorations offered at Beachcombers’ Rest Nature Center at Pemaquid Beach Park. These will be “Fairy Houses” and “Monarchs at the Beach.” There will be another Touch Tank Tuesday at Beachcombers’ Rest Nature Center as well, on Tuesday, Aug. 21.

Bremen Union Church Flea Market is Aug. 18
On Saturday, Aug. 18 from 8 a.m. to noon, the Bremen Union Church will hold its second annual flea market on the church lawn. Tables may be rented for a very reasonable price while they last; call Donna Finneran at 529-6313.
