Midcoast Conservancy to Host Youth Fishing Event
On Saturday, June 9 from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m., Midcoast Conservancy will host its annual Hooked on Fishing event, where kids get out on the water and experience the fun of fishing. Children of all experience levels are welcome; each child get an hour of fishing in prime fishing spots on Damariscotta Lake with experienced volunteer boaters as their personal guides. Mentors will be onshore to assist young anglers with equipment and to answer their questions about fishing.
Paul Bryant to Talk About Boats in Newcastle
Paul Bryant, boat builder and designer, and owner of Riverside Boat Co., will speak Friday, April 20 at 7 p.m. in the Newcastle fire station community room.
Organist Zoller in Benefit Concert for Animal Shelter
Local concert organist Jay Zoller will play an organ concert to benefit the Lincoln County Animal Shelter in Edgecomb at 4 p.m. on Sunday, April 15 at St. Andrew’s Episcopal Church, 11 Glidden St., Newcastle. The concert is free to the public, but donations will be accepted for the animal shelter.
Garden Club to Hold Plant Sale
The Garden Club of Wiscasset’s annual plant sale will take place on Saturday, May 12 at the Wiscasset Municipal Building, at 51 Bath Road in Wiscasset, from 8:30 a.m. to noon.
Bees and Other Pollinators Subject of Historical Society Program
The first meeting of the Damariscotta Historical Society for 2018 will be held on Monday, April 16 at the Damariscotta town office, 21 School St., Damariscotta. The meeting will start at 7 p.m. The program for the evening, on backyard honey bees and other pollinators, will be presented by Jean Vose, of Nobleboro. Vose has kept bees in her backyard for 30 years.
Beauty Walks at Chapman Farm

Final Simply Supper Event is April 17
The final seasonal Simply Supper free community meal will be held from 5:30-6:30 p.m. on Tuesday, April 17 at the Bremen Union Church, 523 Waldoboro Road, Bremen. Planning this event will be chairpersons Christine Duffy and Gordon Eisleib, both of Damariscotta. The congregation is busy offering help for the meal, which will include assorted pizzas, several salads, bread and/or chips, a beverage, and assorted homemade desserts.
Old is New at Waldoborough Historical Society
When it comes time to open the Waldoborough Historical Society’s museum for the summer, the trustees are always looking for exhibits that will be of interest to visitors. In reality, while artifacts donated are old and from past times in the village, theses same pieces become new for visitors.

Bottero to Give ‘Downsizing’ Lecture April 10
The public is invited to a lecture called “Downsizing: What to Do When You Can’t Take It With You” on Tuesday, April 10 at 7 p.m. at the First Baptist Church of Nobleboro, 8 Back Meadow Road, Nobleboro. The lecture is offered free of charge and is the fourth installment of a series called County Conversations, a community service offered by the church.
Old Bristol Garden Club to Host Edible Flowers Program
