Phoebe A. Cromwell, 79, a lifelong resident of Westport Island, died Oct. 24 at Mid Coast Hospital in Brunswick.

Lee Morris Saunders, 74, of Jefferson, passed away on Oct. 24 at MaineGeneral Medical Center in Augusta, with his wife and daughters by his side. Lee was born on Dec. 23, 1943 in Portsmouth, N.H. to William Z. Saunders and Dorothy (Hansen) Saunders.

E. George Thomas, of Boothbay Harbor, and Naples, Fla., passed away in Portland on Oct. 18 after a long battle with Alzheimer’s.

John Thornton, of Union, passed away Oct. 20.

Charles Cullen Grimes, of Southport, better known as Mike Grimes, passed peacefully on Oct. 19 with his wife Anne of 61 years at his side.

Gordon Neal Hyson Sr., 71, died from duodenal cancer on Oct. 21.

Ella K. Hersom, 82, of Dresden, passed away peacefully on Oct. 16 with her sons by her side. She had resided at Safe Havens at St. Andrews Village in Boothbay Harbor for the past two years.

Jane M. Spofford, a.k.a. Plain Jane from Maine, passed away peacefully Oct. 19 at Safe Havens, St. Andrews Village, Boothbay Harbor.

Joan Francis Curtis, 69, passed away Oct. 17 at her home after a long brave battle with multiple illnesses.

Malcolm “Mac” Ridley, 92, of Nobleboro, passed away on Oct. 18 at Cove’s Edge following several years of declining health. Mac was the son of Eugene and Ruby (Davis) Ridley, and was born in Poland on July 5, 1926.
