I address my concern to Governor Paul LePage and the Maine Republican Party. We see his ads on TV and they state he and his party are for small business.
Vote Because You Matter
There are a number of registered voters who are exhausted at the loud noises of campaigns. Phone calls are welcomed up to a point and then they are not answered. Walkers to the homes are often greeted kindly, but for some voters are one more contact and interruption in their daily lives.
THANK GOD THEY DO
House District 53 candidate Jeff Pierce shared a story from the campaign trail after the conclusion of The Lincoln County News Meet the Candidates forum Monday night.
MAKE IT STOP
If for no other reason than the commercials will stop for a few blessed months, we are delighted to see Election Day hove into view next Tuesday, Nov. 4.
EVERYTHING DIES
There are two great truisms of life that trump everything else.
One is life will always find a way. The other is life is finite.
LOOKING AHEAD
We almost made it all the way through this election season with very little in the way of vandalism to political signs, but it seems our luck has run out with barely three weeks to go until the election.
Sticking To the Facts
I am writing concerning Question 1 (the bear referendum). First off there are a lot of things not being said. When this all started the yes side said openly that the main reason they are back is that they hope enough people from out of state had moved here in the last 10 years so they could win this time.
THAT HAPPENED
It’s no secret that in the eight years since it was founded, the Damariscotta Pumpkinfest & Regatta has grown as fast as one of those giant Atlantic monsters that serve as the festival’s centerpiece.
Write In Catherine H. Moore
The Lincoln County voters have elected me every four years as register of probate since 1987. I am asking that you write in Catherine H. Moore as register of probate on Nov. 4.
Vote ‘No’ On Question 1
I am of the school of thought that believes if you don’t like something, don’t do it. It is a simple philosophy and easily followed. This leads me to Question 1, the bear referendum.
Corporate Compassion
Two weeks ago I complained in this paper of the ersatz lighthouse behind Damariscotta’s Salt Bay CafĂ© that bathed my bedroom with the light of 1000 candles. I didn’t expect anything to come of this, but my concern, supported by the proprietress of the neighboring yarn shop, reached all the way to the eyrie of CMP corporate headquarters.
We Have To Have a Change
Based solely on the Maine economy, we have to have a change in the governorship of the great state of Maine. The present head of state has been in office long enough to improve the economic conditions in Maine, but he has demonstrated no viable, comprehensive and effective growth strategy.
Not True Sportsmanship
I’ve been a big-game hunter for over 40 years, with trophies to prove it, and I’ve guided many successful hunts: no animals were ever taken by baiting or disabling leg-traps.
Where Is The Comparable Effort?
U.S., state, and municipal health authorities are working overtime and spending millions of dollars to stem the spread of Ebola, which has killed just one person here.
