In response to Sen. Johnson’s and Rep. Devin’s letters to the editor on Jan. 24, please know that all military and civic service are applauded by all citizens. An appalling thing, however, is the ideology set forth by Democrats in the legislature both here in Maine and in Washington.
WHAT THEY DON’T TELL YOU
The confetti was still falling after the presidential election results in November when national media started turning its attention to 2016. Since then, we have heard the incessant drumbeat grow louder with one yet-to-declare politician after another being held up to the light.
Eric’s Test
To the Editor: In response to Sen. Johnson’s and Rep. Devin’s letters to the editor on Jan. 24, please know that all military and civic service are applauded by all citizens. An appalling thing, however, is the ideology set forth by Democrats in the legislature both here in Maine and in Washington. It is scandalous […]
DIMINISHED
We thought we were done kicking Gov. Paul LePage’s tires for a little while after last week when we considered his reelection chances in light of a hypothetical race with former Gov. John Baldacci.
Amazing Once Again
The people of Waldoboro have been amazing once again this year in their generous donations this holiday season. It’s been a rough year for everyone economically, but the people of Waldoboro have proven to be amazingly generous and thoughtful.
Nobleboro’s Fireworks Ordinance
We have expressed our concerns to the Nobleboro selectmen in writing, per their request – and have also given a copy to the LCN reporter at a recent public-attended workshop meeting. We appreciate putting forth these ideas for your perusal. What a wonderful forum the “letters to the editor” are.

A Failure In Society
The clamor from progressive members of our society to do more about gun control is without merit. With the exception of two states, the majority of the states in the union have an excess of sufficient gun controls in place to protect our citizens.
Merry Christmas vs. Happy Holidays
The Dec. 20 LCN had a letter to the editor from Craig Elliott of Bristol titled “Merry Christmas.” I commend Craig for his article that many of us are in complete agreement with.
One Aspect Hasn’t Received Enough Attention
In the well-publicized muddle in Washington over the “fiscal cliff,” there is one aspect of the debate that hasn’t received enough attention to my mind.
Look Forward To A Follow-Up Article
I read your article titled “Cove’s Edge employees see some changes” in the Dec. 6 edition with great interest. Medicare dollars seem to be stretched very thin these days and the impact is hitting the health care industry hard, especially here in Maine with its high proportion of senior citizens.
CAST A LONG SHADOW
To be honest, the first time many of us heard who Russell Libby was and what he did, we read it in his obituary.
SPIRIT OF THE SEASON
Thanksgiving leftovers are squared away, Santa is popping up everywhere, and the Christmas TV specials and promotional efforts are in full swing.
Grief Over Wreaths
I learned today that Bath Savings Institute will not be hosting their (previously) annual holiday wreath auction for the benefit of Big Brother’s Big Sisters. What a travesty.
