I would like to thank the citizens of Wiscasset for their votes. I especially thank those who took the time to write letters to the editor on my behalf. I was genuinely surprised at the number of votes received.
Seniors Lose, Wealthy Win
To the Editor:
Remember the old true and false questions? If any part of the question is false, the answer is false.
GOOD APPROACH, BAD IDEA
We like the way James Doughty is going about trying to establish a wolf-dog hybrid reserve in Bristol.
He has been up front with his neighbors. He has been straightforward with the town. He has promised to take extra security measures to secure his charges and protect the public and he has answered sometimes hostile questions. At the very least, he is sensitive to the local concerns.
Still Voting No
To the Editor:
I have found out that I was wrong about the Bristol school budget in my letter in last week’s paper.
Never Would Have Happened
If the oil industry in this country were under the same degree of regulations and policing as the Commercial Fishing Industry here in Maine, the disaster in the Gulf would have never happened. Maine fishermen are regulated, to the point of being just plain stupid.
Otten for Governor
To the Editor:
I support Les Otten for governor. Let me explain why.
Fluoride Provides Dramatic Benefits
As the Damariscotta Health Officer I would like to respond to some concerns that have been raised regarding the addition of fluoride to our town water.
More Than Ever
To the Editor:
In tough economic times, people need and use libraries and their free services more than ever.
WE STILL NEED TAX REFORM
For a state with citizens screaming for tax reform, our legislators seem to be making precious little progress overhauling the tax code.
Lepage, If Republicans Are Serious
To the Editor:
There is only one candidate in either party who has actually run a “real” business, and has succeeded in the executive branch of government.
Woodbury McLean Responds
First I would like to address the constant abuse you have put on me as a volunteer fire fighter. I have been a volunteer since high school, started at age 16, leaving the department briefly to move to Texas. Volunteers protect and rescue the public on a daily basis. They receive very little monetarily but enjoy helping others.
SOMETHING GOOD AND RIGHT
Until Dakota Boutte was seriously burned three weeks ago, it’s likely few people outside his circle of friends and family in Jefferson knew who he was.
A DAY OF MOURNING
It’s a bit sad to see it go, but the decision to ban the practice of throwing candy during the Damariscotta Memorial Day parade is probably a good one, although less so we think, than for the reasons of cavity fighting or safety.
Vote Down BCS Budget
I want to urge all Bristol voters to turn out June 8 and vote down the school budget.
