Damariscotta Dentist Agrees To Pay $90,000 to Settle Civil Health Care Fraud Case
Acting U.S. Attorney Richard W. Murphy announced Tuesday, May 2, that Joseph W. Griffin, D.M.D. has entered into a civil settlement agreement with the U.S. and the state of Maine in which he will pay $90,000 to resolve allegations that he submitted false claims to MaineCare, Maine’s Medicaid program, from July 1, 2014 through July 1, 2015.
Boothbay Man Allegedly Shoots Neighbor In Leg
A Boothbay man allegedly shot his neighbor in the leg with a .45 caliber pistol during a dispute Monday, May 1, according to the Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office.

Waldoboro Man Pleads Guilty To Illegally Trafficking American Eels
On Friday, April 14, Richard Austin, of Waldoboro, pleaded guilty in federal district court in Norfolk, Va. to trafficking juvenile American eels, aka “elvers” or “glass eels,” in violation of the Lacey Act, according to acting Assistant Attorney General Jeffrey H. Wood for the Justice Department’s Environment and Natural Resources Division, U.S. Attorney Dana J. Boente for the Eastern District of Virginia, and acting Director Jim Kurth, of the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service.
