Natashia Garber, of Newcastle, set a new Oxford Mud Drag record in Class 2 Fast Track on Sept. 12. Garber drove the 300-foot track in 4.101 seconds to break the record. She won first place in the event in a modified 1979 Jeep CJ.

Lincoln Academy boys and girls soccer teams defeated Spruce Mountain on September 17.

Medomak Valley boys soccer team defeated Morse 3-0 Tuesday in Waldoboro. Alvaro Valls scored two goals and Tucker Prescott one. Alvaro and Cameron Leach collected an assist each.

Newcastle resident Hannah Sparrell defeated Kira Innocenti to win her mixed martial arts debut by unanimous decision at the Androscoggin Bank Colisee in Lewiston Saturday, Sept. 12.

Lincoln Academy girls soccer team defeated Leavitt 1-0 Friday night under the lights in Newcastle, Sophie Cohen scored the game winner with a second half penalty kick, called after Chloe Hallowell was plowed over in the penalty box.

Lincoln boy soccer lost 2-1 at Leavitt in overtime on a penalty kick.

Bailey Plourde, of Newcastle, came away with a double victory at the WMSGA Janet Drouin Memorial Golf Tournament, held at Natanis on August 17 and 18. Plourde was crowned the overall championship and was the Junior Amateur Champion as well.

Medomak Valley High School senior Rayanne Leach jumped at the chance to compete at the Cadet/Junior National Freestyle Wrestling Championships in Fargo, N.D. The 16-year-old flew with her Maine Trappers team to wrestle in the tournament held at the Fargodome on July 17-23.

For Lee Smith of Nobleboro, it was an opportunity of a life time when he was invited to umpire at the Senior Little League 13 to 16 Regional softball tournament in Worchester, Mass. on June 25 to 30.

The Alvin Sproul Samoset 10K evolved from the Bristol 4-miler, which got its start in 1984. In its second year in 1985, Alvin Sproul won the race.

Medomak Valley High School athletic director Matt Lash announced this week that Ryan Snell has been hired as Medomak Valley High School’s first varsity football coach. Snell is no stranger to the Medomak Youth Football program, having led the grade 9 to 12 team for the past three years.
