The Wiscasset Community Center was hopping Saturday afternoon, as 60 people packed into their gymnasium to participate in the Zumbathon for Haiti.

Christian Moon, 5, of Jefferson, placed first in the 30th annual Huard Battle of Maine Tournament in Karate Fighting. The kindergarten student won the 5 and 6 age division.

Boothbay defeated Lincoln 41-29 on March 4 to win the LA Invitational 8th grade girls’ basketball tournament.

Medomak Middle School hosted a five team meet on Feb. 27 at Medomak Valley High School.

The CLC YMCA 5th and 6th grade girls travel team won their 3rd tournament of the season, with a win at the Blasters Tournament at Boothbay last weekend. They also collected two 2nd place finishes this season.

On Feb. 28 the Central Lincoln County YMCA gymnastics team, under the direction of coaches Janice Cormier-Hay and Betsy Lee, took their team to compete against Waterville/Skowhegan and Old Town YMCA.

The CLC YMCA in Damariscotta hosted their fifth annual 120 tennis tournament on Feb. 26.

Medomak Middle School wrestler Cyril Miller (145) placed 4th at the Pine Tree Wrestling championships, held at Brewer High School on March 27. Five Riverhawk wrestlers qualified for the championships by placing in the top four at the East Regionals on March 20, including Miller, Todd Anderson (117), Zach Rideout (124), Dustin Upham (155), and Travis Reed (190).

Medomak Valley High School held their winter sports awards ceremony on March 4. Athletic director Matt Lash thanked a long list of people who have assisted him throughout the season. The freshmen girls’ basketball team won the GPA award with a 3.42 average.

Medomak Valley will be holding their 2009-10 winter sports awards at the school.

The Harlem Superstars comedy basketball team is coming to Lincoln Academy tonight Wed., March 24 at 6:30 p.m.

The Coastal Hoops girls’ basketball team picked up a pair of wins in the Kennebec Valley YMCA tournament on March 6-7.

Wiscasset defeated Miles Memorial 69-53, and Stonescape topped Mid-Knight Auto 69-65 in semifinals of the Waldoboro First Baptist Church Men’s Basketball League Monday night to advance to the championship game.

Five Medomak Middle School wrestlers placed in the top four at the Pine Tree East wrestling championships, held at Belfast High School on Saturday to qualify for the Pine Tree State championships to be held at Brewer High School on March 27.
