This Friday, Aug. 12, Heaven’s Blend, who opened the Summer of Praise under the tent on June 3, will return with a gospel concert beginning at 7 p.m. This popular Maine group has five members.
All events will be held rain or shine and everyone is welcome. Attendees are advised to bring a lawn chair or cushion if folding metal chairs are too uncomfortable. The tent has screens now, encouraging the bugs to enjoy the music from outside the tent. A goodwill offering will be taken to help cover traveling and other expenses.

An evening lantern lit tour will explore Wiscasset, discovering ghosts and history, spirits and mystery. Buildings that once seemed ordinary will take on eerie new dimensions as The Lady in the Red Cloak relives their history and that of the ghostly entities that are said to still reside there. The New Harbor United Methodist Church will hold their traditional family-style breakfast at 8 a.m., Saturday, Aug. 13.
Platters of eggs will be served with ham and sausage, muffins and beverages. Cereal is available for children. The adult price is $8; children under 12 pay $4. “Generous” would be the appropriate term for the quantity of food prepared for the church’s guests; a hungry teenager may eat until filled.
The event will wrap up in time to watch the Olde Bristol Days parade.

A Karaoke and Kook-Out event under the tent at the top of the hill on Route 1 in Waldoboro will be a day of music, fun, laughter, and good food. “Karaoke Kate” and “Stan the Music Man” will supply the music for those who wish to perform to rock-and-roll; country-western; standard ballads; and more. There will be an individually priced a la carte menu of hot dogs, hamburgers, cheeseburgers, chips, brownies, and soda, lemonade, and water.

The Lincoln County Democrats will be hearing from Congresswoman Chellie Pingree and Maine Attorney General Janet Mills at this year’s lobster bake. Local candidates also will be present and will be commenting on their races for legislative seats in Augusta and for county-wide positions.
The event will take place on the beautiful shores of the lower Damariscotta River in Walpole, on the property of Linda and Dirk Brunner. Generous lobster or hot dog dinners will be on offer, plus a raw oyster cash bar and music by Old Grey Goose, back by popular demand.
Caterer Jeff Hurd of The Narrows Tavern will be preparing the lobsters, mussels, and other traditional fare. The cost of the lobster dinner with mussels is $35, the hot dog dinner $10. All dinners include corn, potato salad or coleslaw, watermelon and drink. The music and offerings from the oyster bar begin at noon and the food line opens at 1 p.m.
The exact location of the event is 331 Clark’s Cove Road, just down the road from the Darling Marine Center. Take Route 129 south from Damariscotta, and an immediate right turn after the Wawenock golf course.

The Medomak Valley Land Trust (MVLT) is hosting its third annual auction fundraiser on Sunday, Aug 16 at 5:00 pm. The Medomak Summer Sizzle will be held at Cider Hill Farm on Waldoboro’s Main Street. It will feature live music and dancing from Steelin’ Thunder Band and a Caribbean-themed feast that will include jerk chicken, lobster and more. Highlighting the evening will be the live auction, led by the Midcoast’s own famous auctioneer Kaja Vielleux.
Tickets are $75 in advance or $80 at the door. Advance reservations are recommended.
