To listen to April Verch and Cody Walters is to be immersed in tradition. To watch them perform is to be transported. Be it regional Canadian roots, American old-time, 50’s Country, Scandinavian folk music or something original that sounds as though it’s been around for a century – the one common thread is their love and reverence for the music and traditions that have been passed down to them.
Combining their unique backgrounds from Verch’s native Ottawa Valley and Walter’s heartland roots in Kansas, their music showcases endless creativity and versatility – transitioning effortlessly from traditional Ottawa Valley step dancing and fiddle tunes, to old-time fiddle-banjo duets with tight-knit vocal harmonies. These two will help audiences spring into the summer season at the Opera House.

Carsie Blanton writes anthems for a world worth saving. Inspired by artists including Nina Simone and Randy Newman, her songs encompass a wide range of genres, from sultry pop to punk-tinged Americana.
Whether alone with her electric guitar or fronting her four-piece “handsome band,” Carsie delivers every song with an equal dose of moxie and mischief, bringing her audience together in joyful celebration of everything worth fighting for. Over the past dozen years, Blanton has been making music that personifies play. Her work has been called “impeccably catchy” by critic Robert Christgau, with musician John Oates admiring her songs’ “sly wit and urbane imagery” that remind him of Cole Porter. She’s toured across
America and Europe sharing stages with Madeleine Peyroux, The Weepies and others. Help us welcome Carsie in her first Opera House appearance.

A career spanning 25 years has brought this Canadian guitarist multiple accolades including a coveted Acoustic Guitar Magazine ‘Player’s Choice Silver Award’, 11 Juno Award nominations (he won for 2001’s ‘Free Fall’), a Gemini Award and, most impressively, 10 platinum and gold studio albums. Moreover, he has
sold out concert halls the world over, produced five PBS television specials and five live CDs. An accomplished guitarist, producer and equally prolific film maker, Jesse Cook has evolved his talents to
create experiences that delight audiences both in concert, and online.
He composed his first album, Tempest, over 25 years ago. Jesse could not imagine that such a humble recording, in which he played all the instruments, would spark into a music legacy with thousands of
concerts performed around the world and over 2 million albums sold.
Jesse and his extraordinary band are looking forward to returning to the road, bringing the Tempest II Tour and their unique brand of rhythm and rumba to audiences across North America in 2022.

Opera House friend and troubadour Ellis Paul comes to the stage tonight alongside Vance Gilbert and Molly Venter (of Red Molly).
It’s hard to know what to expect tonight, other than a memorable night of stories and music from these three veteran folkies. While they will all share the stage, each will perform solo as they rotate the microphone throughout the evening. Each June Ellis Paul arrives here with a few of his favorite musician friends – this year it’s Vance and Molly. If you are a fan of any of the 3, you will enjoy them all!

#1 New York Times Bestselling Author Elizabeth Letts shares the story of Annie Wilkins, who embarked on an incredible adventure, wrote about it, and retired in Lincoln County – becoming one of Lincoln County’s
most intriguing Woman Writers.

About the book:
It was 1954, and 63-year-old Maine farmer Annie Wilkins’s odds were looking bleak. She had no money, no family, and had just lost her farm. When it seemed like things couldn’t get much worse, they did—according to her doctor, she had only two years left to live. For most, this would‘ve marked the beginning of the end. But most weren’t Annie Wilkins.
From #1 New York Times bestselling author Elizabeth Letts comes the remarkable true story of a woman, her horse, and their last-chance journey across America called THE RIDE OF HER LIFE (On sale 6/7; Ballantine Trade Paperback), now available in paperback!
Determined to see the Pacific Ocean before she died, Annie ignored her doctor’s advice to “take it easy,” choosing instead to purchase a cast-off horse named Tarzan, dress in men’s dungarees, and with her faithful mutt, Depeche Toi (French for “hurry up”) in tow, head south in mid-November, hoping to beat the
snow.
Personifying the very best of the American spirit—determination, grit, bravery, adventure, good humor—Annie and her four-legged companions captured the hearts (and media attention!) of people everywhere. In a decade when car ownership nearly tripled, television’s influence was quickly expanding, rotary phones became widely embraced by the masses, and when homeowners began locking their doors, , this motley crew of loveable misfits inspired an outpouring of kindness and hospitality in a rapidly changing world.
