Colonial Pemaquid State Historic Site will celebrate the Labor Day weekend with two outdoor performances by Castlebay, one at 1 p.m. and one at 3 p.m. The popular musical duo, made up of Julia Lane and Fred Gosbee, will share the music of Maine’s Celtic forebears in voice, harp, guitar, fiddle, and woodwinds. The musical traditions of the Scots-Irish colonists who settled prominently in the Maine Midcoast in the 18th century are the inspiration for much of the original and adapted music that Castlebay performs. This musical event on the parade grounds of historic Fort William Henry is sponsored by the Friends of Colonial Pemaquid, a group of volunteers who work tirelessly to produce informative living-history programs and lectures throughout the summer. Admission to the concert is free. Donations are gratefully accepted.
For more information, go to friendsofcolonialpemaquid.org or contact the park manager at 677-2423. Learn more about Castlebay at castlebay.net.
