Aileana Roselyn Harvey, of Waldoboro, passed away on May 16 at Children’s Hospital in Boston with her family by her side. She was born on May 6 in Portland to Olivia Orff and Nicki Harvey.

Free fishing Weekend June 2 and 3

This weekend is Maine’s free fishing weekend and the Maine Department of Inland Fisheries and Wildlife is encouraging everyone to get outside and enjoy a day of fishing with family or friends on one of Maine’s many waters.

Paul Andrew Mayewski, director of the Climate Change Institute and a distinguished professor at the University of Maine, has led more than 55 research expeditions into some of the most remote regions of the planet to study climate change and how humans have been involved.

Waldoboro Candidates Night is June 5

The Waldoboro Business Association is inviting the public and all association members to take the opportunity to learn more about the candidates for the Waldoboro Board of Selectmen. This is a chance to hear Katie Winchenbach, Abden Simmons, and Seth Hall answer questions about some of the pressing issues of the town. The meeting will be held on Tuesday, June 5 at 6 p.m. at the meeting room in the town office, located at 1600 Atlantic Highway, Waldoboro.

Waldo Theatre Has Spring Cleanup

On May 19, Shannon and Amanda Mahan of Mac Tree Service in Pemaquid and a group of volunteers gathered at the Waldo Theatre for a spring cleanup of the grounds and interior in advance of the theater’s planned participation in ArtWalk Waldoboro.

GSB Environmental Club Aims to Raise Awareness about Climate Change

Althea Flogee, an eighth-grader at Great Salt Bay Community School in Damariscotta, was struck with the idea to start the Great Salt Bay Environmental Club after learning about the effects of climate change in Michael Stenstrom’s science classroom and watching the documentary “Before the Flood” with her mother.

Coastal Car Wash to Hold Customer Appreciation Event June 2

Coastal Car Wash and Detail Center, of Damariscotta and Boothbay Harbor, will celebrate its customers with an event at the Boothbay Harbor location Saturday, June 2. The event is free to attend and all are welcome.
