Charlotte J. Simmons, 78, of Damariscotta, passed away unexpectedly on the morning of May 22 at her home. Born on Feb. 8, 1940, she was the daughter of Ross and Mildred (Bryant) Hanley.
Brunch Now Offered at Van Lloyd’s
Van Lloyd’s Bistro, at 85 Parking Lot Lane in downtown Damariscotta, is making some changes to its usual summer schedule. Lunch will no longer be offered, but instead will be replaced with brunch every Saturday and Sunday morning. From 10:30 a.m. until 2 p.m., a small menu will be run consisting of “classic” brunch meals such as waffles and home fries, as well as a selection of unique dishes.
Courtesy Boat-Inspection Program Needs Volunteers
Midcoast Conservancy and Pemaquid Watershed Association have courtesy boat-inspector programs. Courtesy boat-inspector volunteers check boats for invasive aquatic plants that could harm the waterways. Both land trusts need more volunteers to be on the courtesy boat-inspector team this summer.
Round Pond Column
This Thursday, May 31, there will be a Round Pond Village Improvement meeting at the firehouse at 7 p.m. We have much to discuss with the vandalism problems at the lock boxes at the tennis courts and the town landing. We are not sure what the answer is, but perhaps with a little brainstorming we can all come up with a solution.

De Mauriac Joins Saltwater Artists Gallery
The Saltwater Artists Gallery, on Pemaquid Point Road in Bristol, is pleased to welcome a new oil painter, Alice de Mauriac. She lives full time in Pemaquid after spending several years living abroad in Saudi Arabia, Finland, Norway, Austria, Denmark, and Switzerland, then in Rochester, N.Y., where she continued to paint.
Bickford to Present Outdoor Performance at Fiore
