Alton R. Chadwick, 84, of Wiscasset, died Dec. 11 at the Sussman House in Rockport. Born in St. George, July 26, 1933, he was the son of Merrill and Elizabeth Simmons Chadwick.

Early Deadlines: Christmas and New Year’s
The Lincoln County News office will be closed Monday, Dec. 25 and Monday, Jan. 1 for the Christmas and New Year’s Day holidays. The deadline for letters to the editor and press releases – normally 5 p.m. Monday – is 5 p.m. Friday for the Dec. 28 and Jan. 4 editions. The deadline for advertisements is noon Friday.

Dr. Douglas S. Hancock, 71, of Newcastle and Bremen, passed away at home on Dec. 18, hand-in-hand with his loving wife, after a courageous battle with cancer. Born on Oct. 9, 1946 in Portland, he was the son of the late Sumner and Elizabeth “Betty” (Homans) Hancock.

One can enjoy the unique sounds of the woods in winter on a full moon hike at Hidden Valley Nature Center. Let nature light the trail as hikers take in the howls of distant coyotes, hooting owls, and the rustle of creatures in the underbrush. The season’s first hike will be Friday, Dec. 29 from 4:30-6:30 p.m.
Edgecomb Child’s Wish Is Coming True
On Dec. 8, 9-year-old Madison Lorrain found out her wish will be granted. She is going on an all-expenses paid trip to Disney World with her family, thanks to Make-A-Wish Maine.
