The trial of Lincoln County Sheriff’s Deputy Kenneth L. Hatch III on charges of sexual abuse of three underage girls, as well as giving drugs to two of those girls, is underway in Kennebec County Superior Court in Augusta.

And so the seasons change. Wham! Not a gentle ease-you-into-it kind of thing either. It was warm one day with temps in the 60s, blue skies, leaves still hanging on nicely with some color yet to enjoy, and then it turned bitter with wind whipping, temps plummeting to single digits and teens, and now we have seen our first cat tracker of the 2017-2018 snow season.

Obedience training doesn’t solve all behavioral problems, but it is the foundation for solving just about any problem. Training opens up a line of communication between a person and his or her dog. Effective communication is necessary to instruct the dog. A dog can be taught anything from “wait” (stay inside the house/truck/yard even if the door is open) to “sit” (while other dogs pass by) to “off” (keep all four feet on the floor when visitors arrive).
