As the holidays approach, it is that time again when we enjoy eating delicious foods. As we enjoy our food we may see our pets watching us longingly. Since it is a special occasion and we love to see our pets happy, we think, “a little won’t hurt.” Later, we are awakened in the middle of the night by a vomiting pet.
Waldoboro Food Pantry Thanksgiving
On Nov. 7, the Waldoboro Food Pantry served 72 households with food assistance. Those households received the usual selection of food items, produce, and bakery goods purchased by the pantry from Good Shepherd Food Bank, Hannaford Supermarket in Waldoboro, and the Common Market in Union. Those 72 households went from the pantry with groceries and a sense of comfort.
Wiscasset Tree Lighting
The annual Wiscasset Christmas tree lighting will be held Saturday, Dec. 2 at 4:30 p.m. on the town common. There will be holiday music performed by students in grades five through 12, with a sing-along of familiar songs.
Thanksgiving Dinner for Those Alone
For those alone on Thanksgiving Day, a free dinner will be available at the Waldoboro American Legion, located at 181 Jefferson St. in Waldoboro, at 1 p.m., Thursday, Nov. 23. Unlike some of the community dinners, this one is actually on Thanksgiving Day. It is intended for those who find themselves alone on that day. There are those who, for whatever reason, have no relatives, children, or neighbors to visit that day. This dinner is for them!

Dennis Hilton, president of Cheney Financial Group, hosted an exceptional awards and recognition dinner Nov. 9 at The 1812 Farm in Bristol Mills. A festive atmosphere, delicious food, and lively conversation were the backdrop for the annual celebration and recognition of outstanding service and commitment by Cheney Financial Group employees.
Record Number of LA Musicians Qualifies for Honors Fest
This year, more than 80 Lincoln Academy student musicians auditioned for the District 3 Honors Music Festival, and of those, a record 51 qualified to participate, several in both band and choir.
Christmas Town and Craft Show
The annual Christmas Town and craft fair will be held at the Jefferson fire station Sunday, Dec. 3 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Little ones can visit and have their picture taken with Santa from 1-3 p.m.
Victorian Christmas at Alna Railway Museum
Now in its 17th season, the Wiscasset, Waterville and Farmington Railway Museum, at 97 Cross Road in Alna, will welcome a special visitor from the North Pole for its Victorian Christmas trains. Victorian Christmas will take place during the two Saturdays prior to Christmas Day, on Dec. 16 and 23.
Jury Deadlocks on Most Charges Against Sheriff’s Deputy
A jury could not reach a verdict on 20 of 22 charges of sex and drug crimes against Lincoln County Sheriff’s Deputy Kenneth L. Hatch III after his week-long trial. The jury acquitted Hatch of the other two charges Monday, Nov. 20.

George W. Stetson Sr., 80, of New Harbor, died peacefully on Nov. 18 after a long illness. He was born Sept. 24, 1937, a son of Edward and Dorothy (Bartlett) Stetson.
