Shelters to Participate in Subaru New England Social Media Campaign
Coastal Humane Society and Lincoln County Animal Shelter announced Friday, Sept. 29 that the shelters have been selected to participate in Subaru of New England’s #SNELovesPets social media campaign to earn up to $10,000 in grant money from the New England company.
‘Words & Music’ – The Songs of Hallett and Robinson
Ever wonder how a song is written? Does a composer write the melody first and then a lyricist set the words to the notes? Or is it the other way around? In the case of songwriting team Suzy Hallett (lyricist), of Nobleboro, and Aaron Robinson (composer), of Alna, it was the latter.

She coordinates patient support services at a Mosaic Medical, a nonprofit community health center in central Oregon.
Cramwel “Manny” Tegerero Feb. 12, 1986 - Sept. 27, 2017
Cramwel “Manny” Tegerero, 31, of Edgecomb, passed away Sept. 27 at his home with his loving family by his side, after a period of declining health. Born on Feb. 12, 1986 in Manila, Philippines, he was the son of Roque and Merlyn (Mangaring) Tegerero.
Round Top Ice Cream Plans Oct. 10 Benefit for 13-year-old Alice Skiff
Stephanie Poland, the owner of Round Top Ice Cream in Damariscotta, has announced that the ice cream stand will donate all proceeds from the sales of the closing day of its season to help Alice Skiff. Alice is a 13-year-old from Newcastle who is undergoing chemotherapy after having surgery to remove a brain tumor in October of last year. This special event will be held on Tuesday, Oct. 10 from 11:30 a.m. to 8 p.m.
Arthur B. Hendsbee Jr.
Arthur B. Hendsbee Jr., of Windsor, met his Lord three days after his 95th birthday. Arthur was born in Albion on Sept. 24, 1922 and worked on the family farm until he left to find his way in life in Connecticut.
Martha Bond Tompkins Aug. 2, 1926 - Oct. 2, 2017
Martha Bond Tompkins, 91, of Jefferson, died on Oct. 2 in Newcastle. She was the daughter of Willis A. and Ruth Hodgkins Bond, both of Jefferson and was born on Aug. 2, 1926 in the home of her Bond ancestors, early settlers of the Town of Jefferson.

The sights and sounds of fall include many things like crisp mornings, apple picking, and cider season, and the leaves changing color. Most of all, perhaps, autumn makes people think “pumpkins.”
Flags to Half-Staff Statewide for Las Vegas Victims
In respect for the victims of the horrific shootings in Las Vegas on Sunday, Oct. 1, Gov. Paul R. LePage has directed the United States flag and the State of Maine flag be flown at half-staff immediately until sunset on Friday, Oct. 6.
