The Old Bristol area is fortunate, compared to many, to have preserved a number of its old schoolhouses. Local historian Phil Averill will discuss the history of Pemaquid Peninsula schools at a meeting of the Old Bristol Historical Society at 7 p.m. on Sunday, July 23 at the restored Washington Schoolhouse at 1426 Route 32, opposite the Brown Church in the center of Round Pond village.

Oxbow Hosts Mountain Bike Clinic, Live Music, and Food Truck
Lindsey Beth Currier, a mountain-bike skills coach, is offering a mountain bike skills clinic on the trails behind Oxbow Brewing Co. in Newcastle on Friday, July 14 from 3-4:30 p.m. Participants will learn how to mountain bike or how to take their current skills to the next level with a co-ed clinic designed for men and women 16 years old and up who have at least one year of cycling experience. The class is also great for more experienced riders who have no or very little skills-training experience.
