Gloria J. Brawn, 74, of Woolwich, died Jan. 16 at Mid Coast Hospital in Brunswick.
Mary Caroline Chapman Pratt May 29, 1951 - April 14, 2018
Mary Caroline Chapman Pratt, 66, of Alna, passed away on April 14 at Coastal Manor in Yarmouth. Mary was born on May 29, 1951 in Augusta to Robert Chapman and Josephine (Brackett) Chapman. She grew up in the Augusta area and attended local schools.
George Roland Chapman April 26, 1947-April 12, 2018
George Roland Chapman, 70, passed away on April 12 at his home in Waldoboro with his family by his side. George was born on April 26, 1947 in Gardiner to Robert Chapman and Josephine (Brackett) Chapman. He grew up in Gardiner and attended local schools. He joined the U.S. Army in 1965. He was an Expert (M-14) Rifleman and was given a letter of appreciation. After he was discharged from the Army in 1972, George worked for Canon Sline painter’s union and was a clam digger.
Pre-K, Kindergarten Registration at Miller School
Any child having a fourth birthday on or before Oct. 15 is eligible to enter pre-K in the fall. Any child having a fifth birthday on or before Oct. 15 is eligible to enter kindergarten in the fall.
Whitefield School 2018-2019 Kindergarten Registration, Screening
Registration for kindergarten at Whitefield Elementary School for the 2018-2019 school year is open for children who will be 5 years old by Oct. 15 and are not currently enrolled in an RSU 12 pre-kindergarten program.

In the midst of a scorching heat wave in July of 1878, The Lincoln County News published the first in a series of reports concerning the ship Mabel Clark, launched the previous October and on her maiden voyage:

Joseph Clark, the great Waldoboro shipbuilder, major employer, and wealthiest resident, died suddenly of heart failure July 19, 1875. A large number of people were in attendance at the funeral for which businesses were closed, work in the town suspended, and flags upon buildings and ships displayed at half mast.
