Medomak Valley wrestler Elias Miller won the State Class B 152 pound championship at Wells High School on Feb. 17. Panther alternate Jake Gess placed third at 170 pounds, Amos Hinkley was third at 195, and Elijah Lash (182) and Erik Benner (220) placed fourth. Medomak placed fifth as a team.

Lincoln Academy athlete Olivia Richmond placed third in the State Class B high jump at Bates College in Lewiston on Feb. 17. The Lady Eagles had three athletes qualify as individuals for States, Richmond, Emma Allen and Tahlia Mullen.

CLC YMCA Addition on Schedule
The CLC YMCA Phase 1 expansion project is on time and on budget, according to CEO Meagan Hamblett. The construction project fell behind early due to a problem with steel availability, but has quickly caught up with added workforce in January. The Y expects to move into the new space in early April and hold a grand reopening in conjunction with its annual meeting April 29.

Medomak Cheerleaders Take Third at States Herman takes first, Ellsworth second
For the second straight year, the Medomak Valley cheerleaders placed third at the state Class B cheering championships, held at the Cross Insurance Center in Bangor. Hermon successfully defended its 2017 title with 83.5 points. Since 2007, Hermon has won nine of 12 state cheering titles, including seven of the last eight.
