In respect for the victims of the horrific shootings in Sutherland Springs, Texas, which took the lives of more than 25 innocent people while they were attending church, Gov. Paul R. LePage has directed all United States flags and State of Maine flags to be flown at half-staff immediately until sunset, Thursday, Nov. 9.

Y-Arts to Present ‘Fall Back on Broadway’
On Monday, Nov. 13, the Central Lincoln County and Boothbay Region YMCAs’ Y-Arts production of “Fall Back on Broadway” will take place at Lincoln Theater in Damariscotta. Directed and choreographed by arts and humanities director Emily Mirabile and performed by youth in grades one through eight, the show is sure to provide an evening of fun and entertainment with music from “The Lion King,” “Wicked,” and more.

CLC Y Community Giving Tree Applications Available
The Central Lincoln County YMCA in Damariscotta is accepting applications for families in need of gifts this holiday season. Applications are now available and can be picked up at the CLC YMCA, local schools, churches, and town offices. The simple, confidential application form should be completed and returned to the CLC Y, located at 525 Main St. in Damariscotta, by Wednesday, Nov. 15.

Samoset Fish & Game Announces Top Shot Winners in Shotgun Contest
The Samoset Fish & Game Club hosted a shotgun competition on Sunday, Oct. 22. The weather was excellent and there were lots of crack shots. Junior shooter Jayson Benner attended for the first time and was awarded a turkey for his efforts as a competitor, and especially for his impressive shotgun safety and handling skills. He plans to compete again in the future. Many attendees and competitors are looking forward the rifle shoot on Sunday, Oct. 29.
Villages of Light Will Spark One’s Spirit, Make Holidays Bright
On Saturday, Nov. 25, the inaugural Villages of Lights celebration will light up the Twin Villages of Damariscotta and Newcastle just in time for the holidays. The Damariscotta Region Chamber of Commerce, the Twin Villages Alliance, and the Rotary Club of Damariscotta-Newcastle are pleased to announce the new festival, a holiday extravaganza for all ages.
