On Saturday, Oct. 28 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., the Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office will give the public its 14th opportunity in seven years to prevent prescription drug misuse and theft by ridding their homes of potentially dangerous expired, unused, and unwanted prescription drugs. This is a semiannual national event sponsored by the U.S. Drug Enforcement Agency, local law enforcement, and community health partners.

The Ecumenical Food Pantry in Newcastle is again packing and distributing Thanksgiving food baskets to families in Alna, Bremen, Bristol, Damariscotta, Dresden, Newcastle, Nobleboro, South Bristol, Waldoboro, and Whitefield.
Flags for Waldoboro Campaign
Waldoboro will celebrate the pride and patriotism of its citizens with the public’s help. Thanks to a small startup group of supporters willing to kickstart this grassroots project, the drive to generate enough donations to purchase Made-in-USA American flags for placement on the telephone poles in Waldoboro has started.
Old Bristol Historical Society Adds Photos to Collection
Major additions to its digital archive have been received by the Old Bristol Historical Society. The society has been loaned, for digital scanning, photos and historical materials about the Pemaquid Point community by Patricia M. Porter, who with her husband, John Porter, edited the newsletter of the Pemaquid Point Association for 10 years.
Samoset Fish & Game Club Names Oct. 15 Top Shots
The Samoset Fish & Game Club in Bristol hosted a shotgun competition and an archery competition on Oct. 15. Due to weather conditions, the turnout of competitors was less than last year. However, there were enough in attendance for good competition rounds. Competitors brought their own shotgun; the club supplied the ammunition.
Help Needed Finding Stink Bugs
Entomologists at the Maine Department of Agriculture, Conservation and Forestry are seeking public assistance locating the brown marmorated stink bug. Recent posts to the DACF’s Maine Bug Watch Facebook page have state officials interested in the prevalence of the brown marmorated stink bug in Maine. The bug is a major agricultural pest in other states and has caused severe economic damage to a number of crops in the mid-Atlantic states.
Wiscasset Police Chief Brings Community Policing to Art Walk
If one spends any time in Wiscasset, one is likely to run into Wiscasset Police Chief Jeffrey Lange. While being on the job for only 17 months, he knows many of the locals by first name and it’s mostly not for unsavory reasons. During the September Wiscasset Art Walk, Lange was hosting a Chief Chat event in Moulinette, one of the popular village shops.
Annual Fall Mid-Coast Audubon Birdseed Sale Fundraiser

Shop with Reusable Containers at the Co-Op
Join Rising Tide Community Market in shifting the tide. Rising Tide is excited to continue its new reusable container incentive program. When one brings in one’s own containers and bags for produce and bulk items one will receive 25 cents back per “package.” It’s simple. Bring a container from home (or purchase it at the co-op and reuse it), weigh it for a “tare,” and then fill it with bulk/produce products. Since Rising Tide started this program in September, more than 1,000 reused containers have been used for more than $350 in discounts.

Thanksgiving Food-Basket Distribution
The Ecumenical Food Pantry in Newcastle will once again be packing and distributing Thanksgiving food baskets to families in 10 surrounding towns. Residents in the towns of Alna, Bremen, Bristol, Damariscotta, Dresden, Newcastle, Nobleboro, South Bristol, Waldoboro, and Whitefield who would like to receive a basket should apply at their town offices no later than Tuesday, Nov. 7. Baskets will be distributed through the town offices on Tuesday, Nov. 21.
