A Lincoln County Recovery Collaborative planning meeting is scheduled for Thursday, Jan. 26, from 5:30-7 p.m., in the Porter Meeting Hall at Skidompha Public Library, 184 Main St., Damariscotta. The purpose of the meeting is to brief community members on the addiction problem in Lincoln County, provide an update on the “Bridges to Recovery” and prevention efforts, and seek answers to the questions “How can we help?” and “What else can we do to be part of the solution?”
Registration Open for Kieve Vacation Adventure Camp
Registration is open for the ninth annual school-vacation adventure camp at Kieve-Wavus. Children in grades Pre-K through fifth are invited to join the Kieve-Wavus Leadership School staff for an adventure-filled day camp Tuesday-Friday, Feb. 21-24.

Post Offices Across State Closed Jan. 2
Post offices across Maine will be open New Year’s Eve, Saturday, Dec. 31, with no change in delivery, window service, or collection hours. However, there will be no delivery of mail and no collection of mail on Monday, Jan. 2, 2017 and post offices across the state will be closed for the day.
Dow to Chair Taxation Committee
Maine State Senator Dana Dow, R-Lincoln, has been named chair of the Maine Legislature’s Taxation Committee by Maine Senate President Michael Thibodeau, R-Waldo. In addition to dealing with Maine’s tax structure, the committee is responsible for overseeing the Maine Residents Property Tax Program, property valuation and assessment, municipal revenue sharing, and other tax issues.

Early Deadlines: Christmas and New Year’s
The Lincoln County News office will be closed Monday, Dec. 26 and Monday, Jan. 2 for the Christmas and New Year’s Day holidays. The deadline for letters to the editor and press releases – normally 5 p.m. Monday – is 5 p.m. Friday for the Dec. 29 and Jan. 5 editions. The deadline for advertisements is noon Friday.
LCRC Launches Bridges to Treatment Program
After months of planning, preparation, and development, all five law enforcement agencies in Lincoln County are ready to launch the Bridges to Treatment program. This is a program of the Lincoln County Recovery Collaborative that formally signed a commitment on July 15 to work together to address addiction in Lincoln County.
Half-Price Moving Sale at Skidompha Book Shop
In preparation for the move to its new location, Skidompha Secondhand Book Shop in downtown Damariscotta will hold a storewide half-price sale Wednesday-Saturday, Dec. 21-24. Dec. 24 is the shop’s final day at its current location, 115 Elm St. The sale will be in effect during Damariscotta’s “Wrap It Up” street festival on Thursday evening, Dec. 22, and volunteers will be available for wrapping book-shop purchases.
