All Mainers should be interested in a report recently issued by the Maine Land Conservation Task Force titled “Shaping the Next Generation of Land Conservation in Maine.” The task force comprised a diverse range of interests and perspectives, including state legislators, town managers, sporting groups, ecologists, Indian nations, land trusts, and tourism experts.

When Steve MacMaster, of Pittston, drove himself to the emergency room on Feb. 6, 2018, he thought the pain in his shoulder was a rotator cuff injury. He smoked three cigarettes between leaving his maintenance job at Lincoln Academy in Newcastle and arriving at Maine General in Augusta.

The Ecumenical Diaper Bank is beginning its fifth year of distributing diapers to low-income families. Again this year, Midcoast area churches will hold diaper drives from Mother’s Day, May 12, through Father’s Day, June 16. They hope to raise enough donations of funds and diapers with this annual drive to continue to supplement family supplies of diapers.

Midcoast Humane welcomed 55 cats and kittens from West Virginia through the shelter’s transport and rescue program, Welcome ME Home.

The Lincoln Academy Alumni Council is pleased to announce that Chris Roberts, Lincoln Academy Class of 1974, has been selected to receive the Alumnus of the Year Award on June 15 at the alumni banquet. First given in 1960, the award recognizes individuals with “a lifetime of significant accomplishments in the honoree’s profession and service to the larger community.”

Hundreds of people visited the Central Lincoln County YMCA in Damariscotta to browse the plethora of yard sale treasures during the second annual Lincoln County Yard Sale on Saturday, April 27. The yard sale is a collaboration between the Y and Lincoln County Publishing Co. in Newcastle.
