Midcoast Conservancy Merger Expands Land Protection
Jan. 1 marked the official merger between Medomak Valley Land Trust and Midcoast Conservancy. As a result, Midcoast Conservancy now comprises conserved lands and trails stretching from Bristol and Friendship to Montville, as well as the watersheds of the Medomak and Sheepscot rivers and Damariscotta Lake.
Substance Use Prevention Partnership Seeks Members
The Substance Use Prevention Partnership of Lincoln County is seeking new community members, including youths, to join the coalition. The next meeting is at 3 p.m. on Tuesday, Jan. 15 at Lincoln Academy in Newcastle, in the blue room of the ATEC building. All community members are invited to attend this special meeting during which priorities for the upcoming year will be discussed.

Rethinking, Reframing New Year’s Resolutions
Along with singing “Auld Lang Syne” at the start of a new year, making resolutions is a tradition for millions of Americans. However, while choosing a resolution can be easy, sticking to them is hard. A YMCA survey found that less than a quarter of respondents kept their resolutions. Many (71 percent) tried, but stated that they fell short of their goals, while 40 percent confessed that they gave up within the first few months, even weeks, of the new year.
