EMA’s Project Lifesaver Program to ‘Go Teal’ for Alzheimer’s Awareness
Lincoln County Emergency Management Agency’s Project Lifesaver Program announced that it will “light up teal” on Thursday, Nov. 8 to raise Alzheimer’s awareness as part of the Alzheimer’s Foundation of America’s Light the World in Teal program.
Registration Open for FARMS at the Y Specialty Adult Classes
Specialty adult classes at the FARMS at the Y kitchen at Central Lincoln County YMCA are open for registration for December. Only 12 spots are available per class, so early registration is encouraged.
Free Car Seats at Boothbay Region Health Center
Qualifying families can receive free car seats for infants and children. Robyn Ham, one of Boothbay Region Health Center’s health coordinators, has qualified as a child passenger safety technician and has registered the center as a designated car-seat distribution location through the Maine Bureau of Highway Safety. That means that income-eligible families can make an appointment at the health center to receive a free car seat as well as safety instructions.

Damariscotta Police Department Winter Parking Ban
This notice is for all motorists that park on any street/road or in the municipal parking lot after hours in Damariscotta. The winter season is upon us. In accordance with the Town of Damariscotta Traffic & Parking Ordinance, Article 1.17 Winter Parking, parking is prohibited on any street, road, or municipal parking lot from Nov. 15 to April 15 between the hours of 9 p.m. and 7 a.m.
Whitefield Hall Receives Heating Efficiency Grant
Thanks to a grant from the Maine Community Foundation, a historic Whitefield building will be heated more efficiently when cold weather strikes. Judy Maldovan, president and treasurer of the Kings Mills Union Hall Association, recently learned the group would be receiving $3,200. The grant will be used to replace an existing furnace and ductwork with two propane heaters to improve heating efficiency, safety, and public use of the building without detracting from its historic character or architectural integrity.
Governor Directs Flags to Half-Staff Statewide for Pittsburgh Victims
In respect for the victims of the tragic synagogue shooting in Pittsburgh on Saturday, Oct. 27, Gov. Paul R. LePage has directed that the United States flag and the State of Maine flag be flown at half-staff immediately until sunset on Wednesday, Oct. 31.

The Somerville Board of Selectmen will hold a special meeting to consider a general assistance matter at 7 p.m., Monday, Oct. 29. The selectmen will consider the matter in executive session to maintain confidentiality.
