Round Down Event Supports New Hope for Women
Damariscotta retail women’s clothing store Women of Substance has been rounding down sales to support a local community organization. During the Round Down event, customers who pay 100 percent of their purchase in cash will be forgiven the change portion of their final tally, which will then be donated by Women of Substance to New Hope for Women.

Camden National Corp. Announces Board Retirements
The Camden National Corp. Board of Directors elected Lawrence “Larry” J. Sterrs to succeed Karen Stanley as chair of the company and Camden National Bank effective Sept. 17. Stanley, who joined the Camden National Corp. Board of Directors in 2008 and became chair in 2010, retired from the board on Sept. 17. John Holmes, who has served on the board since 1988, retired on Sept. 15 after 29 devoted years.

Mid-Coast Energy Systems Participates in Hire-a-Vet Campaign
On Aug. 29, Mid-Coast Energy Systems was among 140 other businesses to set up a booth for the Hire-a-Vet campaign in the Augusta Armory. The state-sponsored program is under the direction of the Maine Department of Labor. Its goal is to result in the hiring of 100 Maine veterans to be hired within one 100 days.
Alna Hair Salon a Dream Come True, Owner Says
The Field of Dreams Hair Salon, the only salon in Alna, opened its doors on West Alna Road in June. The salon is the culmination of owner Melissa Averill’s long-held career goal and a space where she can share the latest trends in hair care and style with her customers, she said.
