John Francis Meurer, 81, formerly of Newcastle, died of natural causes in Kill Devil Hills, N.C., on April 18, 2019. He was born in New York City, N.Y., and led a colorful life.

Christine E. Wellman, 93, went to be with her Lord and Savior with her family by her side at Waldo County General Hospital in Belfast on April 14, 2019. Christine was born on May 26, 1925 in North Union, the daughter of the late Oscar F. Upham and Almacia Wellman.

M. Patricia Benner, born July 10, 1935 in Port Jefferson, Long Island, N.Y., died April 12, 2019 at Sussman House in Rockport.

The Rev. Cn. Dr. Richard H. Hall, of Brunswick, returned to God on April 14, 2019, surrounded by the love of his immediate family: Ellen, his wife of 52 years, and their three adult children, Jim, Matt, and Sarah.

Porter D. Leighton, 86, of Falmouth, passed away on the evening of April 11, 2019 after a courageous battle with lung cancer. Born on Dec. 4, 1932 in Gardiner, he was a son of Linwood P. Leighton, Sr. and Marjorie (Daniels) Leighton.

Susan May Firman Mueller, 83 years old, born Oct. 18, 1935, passed away on April 13, 2019 after a brief illness.

Joyce S. McLain, 89, passed away at Maine General Medical Center in Augusta on April 9, 2019. Joyce was born on March 13, 1930 in Owls Head, the daughter of the late Ivan and Tina (Day) Scott.

Barry L. Pendleton, 69 of Boothbay, passed away peacefully surrounded by his loving family on April 7, 2019 at the VA Togus Springs facility in Augusta.

Sonia Bary Shaw, 90 years old, died at Miles Memorial Hospital in Damariscotta, on the evening of April 6, 2019, after a long battle with chronic pulmonary obstructive disease.
