Janice Hayford Perkins was the sixth child out of seven born to Gertrude and Elbert D. Hayford. All siblings proudly boasted that even though their mother was only 5 feet, 2 inches tall, they each weighed over 10 pounds at birth.

Ashley S. Spear passed away at the age of 70, on the morning of Aug. 31, 2022 in Boothbay. His family did not know he was fighting a long battle with cancer. He was born on Sept. 16, 1951 in Castine to Herbert and Marcella Spear.

Peter J. McDermott, of New City, N.Y., 50 years old, passed away peacefully on Aug. 27, 2022 after a long illness.

Else Hoier Laustsen, 97, went to be with the Lord on Sept. 1, 2022 at her home in Waldoboro, surrounded by her loving family.

Amy O’Brien passed away peacefully on the morning of Saturday, Sept. 3, 2022, surrounded by her family after a short battle with cancer. She was 52 years old.

A celebratory mass for Janice Mellyn, who passed away on Aug. 22, 2022, will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 24 at Saint Denis Catholic Church in Whitefield. Immediately following the service, the family invites friends and loved ones to join them for the interment of ashes at Calvary Cemetery next to the parish grounds.

Ernestine B. Lincoln, 88, of Whitefield, passed away on the evening of Sept. 3, 2022 at the Mid Coast Hospital in Brunswick after a period of declining health.

After a brief illness, Richard “Dick” Ronan died at dawn on Wednesday, Aug. 31, 2022, in the arms of his wife Cathy.

There will be a celebration of life for George Lewis Wiley, formerly of Warren, who passed away June 16, 2022 in Piedmont, S.C. The family will welcome all who wish to attend on from 2-4 p.m., Sunday, Sept. 11 at the Pioneer Grange Hall, 110 Payson Road, East Union.

Timothy Simmons, 58, passed away unexpectedly at his home in Waldoboro on Aug. 30, 2022. Tim was born Nov. 15, 1963, to Ralph and Phyllis (Reed) Simmons.
