The Midcoast Sports Hall of Fame will hold its third annual induction ceremony and banquet on Saturday night, Oct. 17 at the Rockland Elks Lodge.

Parents may sign up boys and girls K-6th graders for the upcoming basketball program at the Jefferson Village School Gym on Fri., Nov. 6, from 7-8 p.m.

Wiscasset girls’ soccer team picked up their second win of the season Monday at Monmouth.

Alli Preble scored the game’s only goal on a pass from Haley Grant. Grant took the ball down the wing and passed through to Preble, who found net from a shot at the 18-yard mark.

Monmouth held a 13-12 advantage in shots. Abbie Austin made nine saves in net for the Lady Redskins to ear the shutout.

The University of Maine at Farmington men’s and women’s golf team recently completed its 2009 season with a third-place finish at the North Atlantic Conference Championships at Penobscot Valley Country Club in Orono on Oct. 12.

Medomak boys’ and girls’ cross country teams ran to victory at the Camden Hills Invitational on Oct. 9. The boys placed five scoring runners in the top 11 and the girls five in the top seven.

The first annual Pumpkinfest Fun Run had only nine participants, but they came in spirit, dressed in orange shirts, orange hats, faces painted and one, Tammy Schiavi, came dressed in costume.

With nine seniors, the Lincoln Academy boys’ soccer team looks to contend in a very strong Kennebec Valley Athletic Conference this fall.

The weather cooperated on Sept. 5 in the 14th annual Damariscotta-Newcastle Lions Club and Rotary Club Golf Tournament. The tournament was a major fundraiser for both clubs.

Wiscasset’s golf team opened their 2009 season with a 7-0 loss to Winthrop on Aug. 28 at Sheepscot Links.

Jefferson’s legendary baseball player, Don Bowman, will be inducted into the Midcoast Sportsman’s Hall of Fame posthumously, at the Rockland Elks Club on Oct. 17. The ceremony will take place at 5 p.m.
